Air conditioning and temperature indicator SolvedSolved

Chevrolet HHR 2007  80000 miles
I have an HHR 2007 that, when reaching 80 degrees, it will stop measuring the temperature; both the analog and the digital boards indicate "---" and the air conditioning won't start. It can remain this way for two or three days with the car being used and suddenly, one day, when reaching aroun 80 degrees, the temperature will start being measured and the air conditioning cooling once more. The agency has supposedly replaced the temperature sensor but the problem has not been solved. The car does not overheat and the cooling fans are working. The Check Engine does also turn on but, when the computer is installed, no failure is detected.

It is the HHR most common failure. You need to change the thermostat, which is located in the coolant passage between the engine and the radiator. When it reaches 80 degrees, it must open itself to give way to the coolant that the engine requires. Its rubber must be worn and thus the coolant circulates freely, nullifying the temperature sensor.

Effectively it was my thermostat that was damaged, so I changed it and the problem is now solved. Thank you very much for your help.

Temperature indicator not working SolvedSolved

Chevrolet HHR 2006  140000 miles
Hi, my problem is that the temperature needle does not move, it does not indicate the temperature, just as if the car were turned off. When checking the antifreeze temperature, it simply indicates "°f" without any temperatures. Hope someone can help me!

This happened to me and what was done was a re-programmation of the computer in the agency itself.

Hi and thanks for the comment. I've solved the problem myself by simply changing the temperature bulb. It is located behind the engine and in front of the fire wall, in the middle of two water tubes that feed the heating. You need to be careful not to press too much the bulb.

Camshaft's sensor

Chevrolet HHR 2008  100000 miles
Good afternoon, I hope someone can help me with my HHR. The Check on the dashboard turned on and, since then, I've started noticing an accelerating deficiency. The failure has worsen with time and now it won't even advance along an uphill road. I've scanned it and the code that is indicated is P0016, which means a camshaft's misalignment. I would appreciate anyone's help.

Fan turned on

Chevrolet HHR 2007  45000 miles
I have an HHR 2007 and the radiator's fan remains turned on and the temperature indicator on the dashboard does not indicate any temperature. Does anyone know which my failure can be? If it is the temperature sensor, where is it located?

The temperature indicator does not work because the thermostat is damaged. This, at the same time, sends a signal that makes the fans remain turned on in order to avoid an overheating. You should replace your thermostat.

It is not the thermostat, which my HHR does not have, but a computer failure.

If you haven't had this done, or done this yourself. This is a link for step by step instructions for traction control reset. Maybe this will help. https://autopickles.com/how-to-reset-t…

Run then no start

Chevrolet HHR 2007  188000 miles
I can drive 10 miles with no problems. All fluids good and no leaks. Thermostat new as well as oil. Battery from 2018 still holds charge and will start car but not until it sits for hr hrs for cooling down. Antifreeze not leaking and is only 3 yrs old from last flush. What electrical component causes this? Relay overheating or sensor? Please advise. Btw, antifreeze temps are stable at around 150-160 at idle. I've seen as high as 180 on the road.
