Automatic gearbox stop functioning

Daewoo Lanos 1998 Hatchback  68000 miles
I needed to change the 8 engine water caps, I took my car to the nearest workshop and have them done. In the same day I drove the car away and after one hour when I stopped the car and started again the automatic gearbox stopped functioning neither drive nor reverse. I called up the workshop technician, he came over added 2 liters of gearbox oil and checked the right wheel transmission shaft and it's ball joints, yet he couldn't solve the problem. I towed my car home and don't know what to do. If anyone can help I'll be very grateful.

Only happens in the morning.

Daewoo Lanos 2000 Auto, hatchback 95000 miles
For the last 3or4 days when I turn my car on its running rough, sounds like my lawn mower, speeds up really slow, it hits 40km and it kicks in abit and then in hits 60km and it kicks in abit more, if I slow down or stop I have to build up the speed again which like I said even when putting my foot down happens really slowly and it last for 5-15mins each morning but once it stops doing it after the 5 to 15mins it's completely fine for the rest of the day, no matter how many time I turn the car on and off or how far I drive its fine. So I don't know what's wrong with it and I've taken it to a couple mechanics and they can't figure it out either. (I thinks it's a 1999 or 2000 model)

Power loss, tends to stall

Daewoo Lanos 1998  0 miles
Hello, I have a Lanos and its problem is that it is always powerless and tends to stall. When turning the air conditioning on, this failure is even more noticeable. I've already changed the IAC valve, spark plugs, injectors, fuel filter and pump, computer and even the idle speed connectors, but nothing changed. Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

Overdrive activation and automatic transmission hit

Daewoo Lanos 1998  105000 miles
When setting the Reverse or Drive, the automatic transmission hits strongly. Even more, when driving and activating the low beam lamps and sometimes when turning the air conditioning on, the Overdrive is activated and the speedometer needle drives crazy. After a while, it normalizes and the Overdrive is deactivated. But, occasionally, this does not happen alone and I need to turn off the vehicle so that everything comes back to normal. What might be happening?

You have an electric problem, so I recommend you to check the connection that leads to the automatic transmission. Check properly the ground wires and also that the right voltage is reaching the computer. You will need to scan your vehicle to determine that, and the voltage should be 12V; if it is less, that is when the failure you mentioned appears.
Mandana from United States 8 years ago
Thanks for your answer, ned. Finally, the problem was the TPS sensor. Thanks.

Starting when cold

Daewoo Lanos 1999  32000 miles
I have a Lanos 99 and, in the morning, I am not able to start the engine because it fails considerably; the engine makes some explosions and it is powerless. After it warms up for 10 minutes, the engine starts properly and with enough power. Injectors were cleaned and the fuel fielter replaced, but everything remains the same way.

I recommend you to check the sensors and to scan your vehicle. It might be that chamber's valves and you need to check if the cylinders fail when removing the wire, with the car working.
middie from United States 9 years ago
Hi, Philander. The mechanic removed the chamber and, effectively, there was a damaged valve, as well as its guide and rubbers. Everything was replaced and assembled once again, and the problem was solved. The engine is more powerful than ever in the morning. Thank you very much for your comment and suggestions.

Connections

Daewoo Lanos 1998  10000 miles
I disassembled the engine to repair it and I cannot remember the position of some hoses, the ones from the intake manifold and the MAP sensor. If anyone can help me by telling me where to place them correctly, I will be really thankful. Please send me some pictures of the connections, thank you.

Check turned on

Daewoo Lanos 2001  90000 miles
When I bought my vehicle, the check was turned on, but I was told nothing happened. After three days, it turned off and I did not pay much attention to it. However, after three months, it has now appeared again, and I still do not know what it means. Can anyone please tell me what I should do? Another thing I would like to mention is that, when stopping the engine, it sometimes whistles, indicating that I have not turned off the lights, but others it doesn't. What might be failing? Thank you very much for your help.

A connector might be disconnected.
Anastasia from United States 9 years ago
I have the same problem and, after investigating, I can tell you that what needs to be done apparently is to adjust the camshaft sensor. If you disconnect the battery and connect it again, the electronic control unit will reset and the light will turn off. However, with time, the accumulation of piston misfires will cause the ECU to turn the indicator on once again. In some cases, the sensor error is so big that, once the engine stops working, it is not able to start again. In that case, the battery needs to be disconnected, wait for a couple of seconds and then connect it again. The ECU will then be adjusted and the engine will start again. This failure tends to appear when replacing the timing belt or even the battery. There is no other solution but to take it to the official service and scan the vehicle. Hope I was able to help you.

The Corsa, Accent, Lanos, Cielo and Optra cars have poor automatic transmissions, which tend to present those kind of failures. It might be the gear solenoids that are failing.

I had the same problem and you simply need to replace the turbine. In my case, I had to adapt a Cabalier turbine, because I was not able to find a new one Daewoo.

Stalls when braking SolvedSolved

Daewoo Lanos 1999  250000 miles
Some weeks ago, my vehicle started failing and I hope you can give me a hand. After driving for 30 minutes or so, and stopping at a traffic light, the engine stalls and it is really hard to start it again. I need to wait for a long time until it cools down. Once, it stalled when lowering the electric window, being stopped at a traffic light. I've already checked the coil, spark plugs and injectors. The car was scanned but no failure was indicated, except for a low electric current consumption. I really do not know what might be happening.

Unstable revolutions

Daewoo Lanos 2002
When starting the engine, it tends to stall. Once it warms up, it normalizes but, after a while, it starts accelerating and decelerating by itself; it does never reach a stable working. The fuel pump has been replaced, injectors cleaned and fuel filter, spark plugs, timing belt and even tensor checked, but the problem persists. Thanks for your help.

It might be the IAC valve. Check it and clean it; it is not hard at all.

It can either be the oxygen sensor or the TPS valve that are failing.
