I'm having the same issue...when the engine is cold, it moves at normal speed. But when it gets hot maybe after driving about 10 minutes, the acceleration drops. Even to climb a smooth hill would become a serious problem as it moves very slowly. But if I stop and restart the engine and accelerate immediately as the engine is still hot, it accelerates very fine but after some time or when I meet a traffic, it goes back to the slow annoying acceleration. So I would have to restart to move on several occasions. My car is Honda Accord 2005 v6. Plz if you have a solution to this plz help me out on my WhatsApp...+2348101570712 or my Gmail... [email protected]. I have spent money trying to solve this problem at the mechanic but it's not working. Thank you very much.

Sounds like you popped a head gasket or something similar. In any case-- you likely have low or no compression in one of your engines cylinders causing that extra piston to essentially become dead weight that's constantly in motion. This can create noises, but more importantly, it will dramatically reduce the life of the engine if it is not addressed asap

The distributor might be wet and thus unable to sparkle properly. You should check the distributor's gasket.

Totally by chance ! My son was pulling the door handle to open the passenger door whilst I (think) I pressed the open button on the remote just a fraction of a second after he pulled the handle; I noticed all the indicator lights went on on all sides (this had also stopped working on opening and locking the car at the same time as the boot stopped opening). So I thought : "I wonder if this has done something to the boot too ?" I went to check and bingo!!! The boot opened normally again with the button on its door!!! I remember I solved a similar problem in the same way when I had a VW Passat many years ago...there seems to be a secret way these doors are programmed !
I am just so very glad I didn't take the car anywhere to sort this issue out (as I was planning to do ) as I'm sure I would have spent a fortune with no resolution. I hope this may help someone

If I stop the car without fully closing the switcher it won't start, and if I do close it completely it will only work for some seconds without accelerating properly. No start code P060A, P1659

I got a code for P060A and P1659 with a flashing green immobilizer light after several failed start attempts. This post may be an old post, but I figured I'd post my findings in case anyone is still fighting the good fight.
My vehicle:
2008 Honda Accord 2.4L EX-L
Codes: P062f p060a p2610 p2118

Hard starting when cold or sitting for over 25 min. Otherwise would start fine and drive fine with no issues until next start.
Process:
Replaced battery, no change
Sent Pcm (ecu) for repair/service. ECU came back with no errors or damage found. No change. Replaced throttle body, no change. Cleaned map and maf sensors, no change. (This fixed issue for someone so figured I would inspect. )
Replaced FTP, code went away, but no change.
*Note: During idle, I noticed a minimal sputter. Almost not audible.

Researched more, and one person mentioned they changed the spark plugs and that fixed their car.
So, I produce a list of all possible fuel/Ignition related possibilities for hard start/idle sputter.
Spark plugs
Ignition coils
Injectors
Fuel pump

As for me, I replaced the fuel injectors, ignition coils, and fuel pump about 2 years ago. And due to covid my car was almost not driven for the last 2 years. So, I removed them as possibilities for me. That left spark plugs.

I bought some NGK iridium plugs and replaced them. Old plugs were worn. (See pictures). This resolved my issues. No more cell lights, hard start, or idle sputter.

Definitely do your due diligence, but I'd say definitely go in this direction if your symptoms sound like mine did.
Good luck, everyone.

Bobeeker from United States 6 years ago
Since the car was dying and starting at the same intervals, I figured it was heat related. And since there was no fire when it would die, I figured it was either the ecu or something in the distributor. I went with the cheapest of the two and changed the whole distributor seeing as how the distributor life was 150,000 miles anyway. Not sure exactly what it was that was getting hot and shutting down, but it fixed my problem.

Matt from United States a year ago
@YahyaThere is two separate screens one on the vtec in the back of the motor and one behind the belt tensioner that could be clogged as well. People tend to clean the easy one but they forget about the hard one. That would set off the same code as give the same symptoms as the vtec.

Main relay under the left side of the dash is interconnected with the Immobilizer system and the relay from Honda is a well known issue as it can heat up which causes the solder to crack causing the relay to eventually fail and in the meantime behave erratically. Seriously, everything that has happened to you guys has happened to me, including it cutting off while I was doing 8 in the fast lane surrounded by rush hour traffic and nearly died wrestling the no longer power steering wheel to the shoulder. Waiting 10 sometimes works but I’m not really buying into that because I read on a forum post about the relay problem and that in the meantime you can try smacking the cover of the fuse box with the faulty relay inside. It located under the dashboard and actually on the side wall of the car. You have to remove the panel under the steering column to get access to that specific box, it is not the regular box on the right side imbedded into the center of the dashboard where all of the control fuse for lights and crap are. I’ve been employing the foot tap method for 5 straight days, in the heat (because it seems to be worse and will start less if it’s hot outside) and it works every single time. I feel like Fonzie. I’m sure there’s more to it than that but regardless, I need my car to start as well as to not endanger my life by cutting off everything whilst exceeding the speed limit so I don’t get run over by my fellow drivers, because California, and all I can say is that as silly as it sounds, it’s effective in employing some sort of og magic and raising my temperamental ride from the recently dead.
mnldian from United States 6 months ago
Hi,can you please send a picture of this relay and location, or the part number? I have the SAME issues with my 2008 Accord and have stuck so many parts and money into it already and I am about to give up. Please help. Thank you :)
Valaraukar68 from United States 6 months ago
@mnldianI’m unable to get to my car atm but my magic spot, and it is a spot, not an area, is under the driver side dash but on the side wall on the left right up where the two meet. I just lift my foot and flick it against the cover there and bang! every time! Still! I know it’s hinky, but it works after a year’s worth of wrong information and advice, and I’m confident that eventually whatever is wrong with the relay(the crap factory soldering is supposed to be the main culprit) will get worse and I’ll have to replace it, or it could something completely different. All I know is some mechanic mentioned it in YouTube video and I gave it a try without hope in my heart as I had been let down repeatedly, only to have it work then and always, so far. I am and anyone else who tries it should be aware and paying attention all the time while driving because it can still cut out, but only has once and I put the car in neutral and restarted it immediately after a quick tap with my foot, but for a second there I was wrassling with a 2K automobile, in traffic and without power and most importantly, power steering, but all’s well that ends well.
mnldian from United States 6 months ago
@Valaraukar68I will take a look, just wondering what relay it might be. Thank you.
Valaraukar68 from United States 6 months ago
@mnldianIt’s the main relay, and you can google the diagram for your particular Honda. Mine is a ‘98, so things may be in a different place inside the cabin.
Carl from United States 5 months ago

Problem Accord 2009 LX 2.4L

Honda Accord 2009 LX Sedan 2.4L 5A
My 2009 honda accord has a grinding noise that occurs when the ignition is activated from a cold start. The noise lasts for approximately two seconds and sounds like the timing belt system is ratcheting into place. This only occurs on a cold start, meaning the engine has not been running for 4 or more hours. I have had this problem for over a year. An internet search located honda service bulletin 09-010 dated 08/17/10 and then updated on 10/21/11. The safety bulletin describes the variable valve timing control (vtc) actuator as being, "defective". Additional internet search identified that th… Read complete

My 2008 Honda Accord is experencing the same cold start timing chain rattle. This is apparently a common occurance and needs to be addressed by Honda in the form of a recall. My Honda has been maticulously maintained since I bought it new. Just got to 100,000 miles. Disappointed in Georgia.

Same issue. Just returned from the dealer to hear the engine is burning oil and my 2009 Honda Accord has only 43k miles on it. When the service writer came back and told me that the issue was the engine was burning oil I was shocked... How could that be? Turns out Honda never contacted me about a service bulletin and is aware of the issue and did anything proactive. Now I am scratching my head and will never buy another Honda. The Tech never mentioned anything and I always take my Honda to get the oil change under regular maintenance reminders... It seems Honda was hiding behind this issue. Never once did they tell me about this issue. Now when you start the car under a cold start you hear the rattle. Then they proceed to tell me its going too cost $6k to repair all the things under there service bulletin regarding this issue. This should have been a recall by Honda. I am going to reach out to the NHTSA to see what my options are.

This is an intermittent recurring issue with the vehicle. This occurs if i have to lift off of the accelerator and reapply pressure, due to traffic slowing around turns or other driving conditions that necessitate lifting off of the gas pedal and then stepping on it the problem has not happened when going straight, only on turns. What you need is the EPS or Pedal Position Sensor. It's the actual pedal assembly. Since these cars are "fly by wire" there is no push/pull cable it's all electric now.

Hey guys can someone help shed some light on my situation. When driving fast, slow, or even normal speed it sounds like my engine is in the passenger seat. When I first got the car last year I though it was because it was a v6 and it was just louder. Not the case then I though maybe it was a tires that were installed but a year later with the same tires and still has loud road noise in the cabin. I’ve done research and I’ve read it could be a number of things. But before I start buying parts I don’t need and waist time and money can someone tell me what to do if you know what I’m talking about… Read complete

Issues 2009 Honda Accord LX 4dr 2.4L

Honda Accord 2009 LX Sedan 2.4L 5A
Rear tires overheated to the point that it would burn a hand that touched it on 6-11-2012 (mileage 46,384). Smelled of burning rubber. Had to replace the left rear brake caliper, brake pad, and rotor. On 4-18-2013 (mileage 65,922) the same problem on right rear. This required replacement of the right rear brake pad and rotor. On 6-13-2014 (mileage 93,310) the same overheating occurred and required replacement of the rear brake pads. The latest occurrence was on 3-16-2015 (mileage 112,411). We have an appointment to have this examined in two days so do not yet know the diagnosis. I am very concerned that this failure could occur while we are driving and could result in a fire, blown tire, or crash.

I’m having somewhat of the same problem with my car is a 2012 Honda accord 2.4L at first it was the actuator after that it gave me another problem the car wouldn’t go past 40mph and slowly sped up and wouldn’t turn on all the times, took it to a mechanic said it was the computer he swapped it it was running great for 2 or 3 days then it started failing again but this time it wouldn’t turn on at all. He said that the new computer he put don’t work no more.

As I introduce the key in the ignition, the starter starts functioning but the engine won't finally start. On the dashboard a wrench symbol appears.

Honda Accord 2009 Saloon 180000 miles
Vehicle has 261,000. It shows very erratic behaviour. - Sometimes it won't start. - Sometimes it will start and run but it later stalls and engine will shut off while driving; the immobilizer light [green key] comes on blinking when car stalls, but then it disappears once the key is turned to 0 and then car will start again. - It shows an engine light which disappears all of the sudden just to re-appear later on. The codes are always P060A and P1659. - It just recently started showing also other codes, such as: P0498, P2118, P062F, P2610, and P2118. - I have replaced almost every relay and fus… Read complete

Any solution on this?

I heard it’s the starter it might make sense since the computer sends the power to it and some how it kicks back to it causing many codes and issues to the computer but once charging the starter if doesn’t changes the best advice is to get rid of that car and never buy a Honda ever again!!!!

Problem 2013 Honda Accord 2.4L

Honda Accord 2013 LX Sedan 2.4L CVT 45000 miles
After my 2013 honda accord with cvt transmission sits for awhile (1- 2 days) without being moved, the transmission will not engage. It doesn't matter if it is in reverse or neutral. When i press on the gas pedal, the engine revs but the car doesn't do anything. After about 30 seconds, the car will move, but very slowly although the rpms are high. The car is fine after about a minute. My car now has 45,000 miles but it has had the problem since 30,000 miles. I have taken it to the dealership twice, but the service manager said "it is at factory specifications and they can't get it to duplicate… Read complete

My accord was doing same thing, took it in 3 times before warranty was up and now tranny is completely shot and fighting with them to fix it...they keep changing mind why they won't. First no proof of report then I found the service records and now another excuse why they wont fix it. Probobleem started at under 40,000 kms.
