Jerks SolvedSolved

Nissan Terrano 2011  300000 miles
I have a Nissan Terrano 2011 2.5 diesel and, when driving at any gear, the check engine light turns on and the car starts jerking. I've cleaned all the sensors and even disconnected the neutral sensor, but it is still the same. Please someone help me.

I recommend you to scan your vehicle, in order to have a base for its diagnosis.

Jerks when accelerating

Nissan Terrano 2006  178000 miles
My vehicle is a Terrano 4x2 turbo diesel and, when driving at third or fifth gear, at the moment of reaching 2500 rpm, the van jerks weirdly and the gearbox and lever move considerably. I've replaced all the filters, checked the tank and cleaned the injectors, but nothing happened. Might it be the gearbox?

Hi, the jerks in Terrano vans tend to be caused by a failure in the neutral position sensor. It is located on the upper part of the gearbox and you can easily find it by removing the gear shift cover. You disconnect it and your problem will be solved. You can as well replace it. Good luck.

After changing maf an all other sensors on engine checking turbo, i read your comment and diconeted neutral position sensor car drives perfectly. Talking about nissan terrano 3.0 113kw 2002 r20 zd20engine. One more on diagnostic was error on boost sensor but after disconnecting neutral position error was gone.

Jerks

Nissan Terrano 2006  20200000 miles
Hi, I own a Terrano diesel and, when changing from 3rd to 4th gear, the car fails and it jerks considerably. I was told it was an ordinary failure in these vehicles; if someone can give me a hand, I would be very thankful.

The gearbox has a neutral position sensor; if this problem does not appear with any other gear, the failure must be there.

Car jerks in 1st gear - Smooth otherwise, gear changes smooth

Nissan Terrano 2016 SUV, Manual, Petrol 25000 miles
Car jerks in 1st gear - Smooth otherwise, gear changes smooth - dealer even said 'No problem, you can change clutch but not recommended to change just now' - they only want part to fail & make money but it only has some 25000miles.
Before anyone focuses on 'bad driving' - I have been driving for 20yrs+, this car is mostly driven by 2 drivers and we have other cars - we've had Toyota's, Honda's, Cielo's...

The jerking in 1st gear could be caused by a variety of issues, some of which could include:

Engine misfire: If the engine is not running smoothly, it can cause the car to jerk and shake. This could be due to an issue with the ignition system, fuel system, or air intake.
Transmission slipping: If the transmission is slipping, it can cause the car to jerk and shake, especially in lower gears like 1st. This could be due to low transmission fluid, a slipping clutch, or a worn clutch.
Engine idle speed: If the engine idle speed is too low, it can cause the car to jerk and shake. The engine idle speed is controlled by the throttle body and the throttle position sensor.
Engine mounts: If the engine mounts are worn or damaged, they can cause the engine to shake, which can be transmitted to the car's body and cause it to jerk.

Thanks for the reply - is there anything I can check before getting 'robbed' by a mechanic - I cant work on cars - im just an average user :-) Anything other than 'go to qualified mechanic' will help - maybe something more specific like 'change x oil'

Gears failure

Nissan Terrano 2008  190000 miles
Hi, I have a Nissan Terrano, the third gear is failing, and the fourth a little bit as well. When these gears are set and I accelerate, the car jerks. It stops when moving the lever to the front. Is there any sensor that might be failing? Thanks for your help.

Hello, replace the neutral sensor or switch from the gearbox. You can find it easily by removing the gear stick cover; it is the one that is right next to the reverse switch. Hope it helps and good luck.
