Idle speed failure

Volkswagen Polo 1996  191000 miles
Hello, I have a problem with my Polo 96 and it is that the vehicle starts but does not maintain at idle speed. When stopping at a traffic light, it stalls. I would appreciate anyone's help. Thank you.

Your problem is the air-fuel ratio, and the TPS sensor is in charge of regulating this ratio. Check first of all the wire that goes from the accelerator to the TPS sensor, which might be damaged, preventing the acceleration function at idle speed. If this is not the cause of your problem, ask a mechanic to check the exit gas temperature in the TPS. Hope it helps you.

You should clean the IAC valve which, together with the TPS sensor, maintain 900 rpm at idle speed, despite any charge variation which can be caused by the air conditioning, power steering, electrofun, among others.
