Played around with the key remote removed battery replaced it a few times , until lights on the key were functioning properly as i gave it a accidental wash with my pants a few months ago once , all thought i had this problem once before i even before accidently washed them as well anyway , make sure the battery is good disassemble the key and reassemble properly if then the lights on the key are lighting up it then worked properly , note if you ever wet the remote dismantle it as soon as possible with a small screw driver and dry it and even hit it with water dispersant immediately to stop damage even before dismantling it

Battery's low amps on your fob or and car battery... And load test the main 12v car Battery as well , I found in the past the alternator was not charging the battery because overheating damages the copper alternator slip ring component , and wont transfer the electricity properly to the battery , spraying WD into the alternator can and may correct and clean the slip ring contact for a short period until their completely damaged as you will find your blinkers will sound extra loud when malfunctioning , keeping the temp down on these old cars is a challenge , the high temps damage so much if your temp gauge is on halfway then its running too hot , i connected my scanner to the car and the dash indictor went half way and the scanner kept showing the temp still rising their after and the cooling fans not even turning on when they should be as well , i think the programing is removing old cars of the road automatically as the car ages ,well any way these cars wont be here for as the electric cars are well on there way new era , and petrol will be far too expensive too use
P. S simply the computers are not turning the cooling fan on when they should and will remove old cars off the road and put out for recycling and they can build a replacement , what you are dealing with is the 1st of many problems in mostly all car makes although the Captiva alternator is too close to the exhaust manifold. We just take what god gives us and be happy for what we have... chill out as cars have no feelings so don't waste your emotions on a piece of metal. TO MUCH INFO COVER then battery's low volts or amps
List of problems are 1. Alternator repair or replace 2. Clean all dirty connections check currents 3. 3vt battery replacement on fob 4. 12vt battery replacement.
