Fuel pump failure

Chrysler Neon 1996  200000 miles
Hello, everyone. I have a problem with my Neon 96. I ran out of fuel once and, after fuelling the tank again, it did not want to start working back. I supposed it was the pump replacement that had burnt, so I changed it and, before setting the pump in the tank, the mechanic tested it ouside to check if it was working properly and it was. However, once the pump was in the tank, it did not work. Even though the pump makes a noise as if it were working, it does not send enough pressure to the fuel lines. I've already changed the fuel pump three times but none of them worked inside the tank. Can anyone please tell me what else to do?

Your battery hasn't got enough charge. Find some wires, charge it and preferently start the engine when this is being done. Good luck.

There might be a fuel pressure leakage inside the tank itself. If you hear the pump working inside the tank, check it has been properly placed. The pump goes inside a deposit in the fuel sender, and you need to be really careful when introducing the end of the pump in the little hole; check that the rubber is not damaged because there will be a pressure leakage through it and the car won't start. Also check the pressure valve that is outside the fuel tank, it should not be blocked. Disconnect the fuel hose in the injectors and check if there is fuel when trying to start the engine. Finally, check that there is spark by releasing any of the coil's wires and taking it with a screwdriver on the end to anywhere near the ground, without touching it. If there is spark, then check the crankshaft sensor, which might be the one that is failing and causing your problem. You can as well check the fuses and fuel pump relay, and meassure the pump pressure with a manometer. Good luck.
