My ignition is hard to turn. When I try to turn the key. It is hard to turn. I wiggle the key. Move the steering wheel and push in the brakes. It feels like the key is about to break off in the ignition. My husband finally got it to turn. He told me to kept in acc mode. What is the problem?

When I tried to start the car the key switch felt as if there was no resistance. The starter wouldn't engage, and when I turned it off, the instrument cluster stays on as though it were in acc mode... I purchased a new starter ignition switch but it didn't take care of it. Help!
