Power steering failure

Chevrolet HHR 2010
The power steering suddenly generates error codes and, for its own safety, it is disabled and thus the manual steering is left without asistence. This makes the turning or maneuvering the car really hard.

Power steering failure

Chevrolet HHR 2007  55000 miles
The steering wheel suddenly tightens. Occasionally, I turn of the engine and start it again and it will start working properly. It does not seem to have a power steering fluid deficit. Any advice?

The HHR steering rack is electric, which means it has an electrical engine for its running. If the steering wheel is tightening it is because the system is failing. You need to take it to an electrical system's technician for him to check and test that engine.

You should check the tires' air pressure levels. You should also change rods and terminals, as the situation you are talking about makes the unit heavy.
