Check engine turns on and stalls

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2004  176000 miles
Hi everyone, I have a 2004 PT Cruiser 2.4 Turbo and after 2 weeks of usage, the Check engine light turned on. It kept working for a while but suddenly stalled. I tried to start it back but was not able; it seemed as though there was a fuel deficit, even though 3/4 of the tank were full. After waiting for 30 minutes, the car finally started, with the Check engine off. But the following day, it turned on again and this same thing has been happening for almost three months. Spark plugs, ignition coil, spark plugs wires and TPS valve have been changed; the oxygen sensor has been cleaned, the wirin… Read complete

Mine is a 2005 non-turbo which «kicks» and then stalls. MAP sensor has been replaced THREE times but the «cure» is always short-lived and failures occur randomly and in very inopportune locations like the fast lane of a major highway! I'm now told that replacing the MAP sensor was not what «cured» the problem but the RESET of the computer (which is part of the MAP sensor replacement process) is all that was necessary. I'm now looking for my own Diagnostic Device so I can reset the computer when it has its next hissy-fit.

Starts and stalls

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2008 manual 66000 miles
When driving car will stall even though it has a new battery. Mechanic said it needs the computer reset and that can only be done at Chrysler dealership. Any idea how much that will cost? And what caused this to happen? Many thanks!

It sounds suspect to me anytime you can only get a car we pay to high fir in the first place and then they make thousands off only manufacturer can fix it!! should of stayed with horses all they needed was love, care, food mist that comes from the human heart.

Electrical failures

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2006  110000 miles
Hi, I have a PT 2006 and hope someone can help me with the electrical failures it has been presenting. Sometimes, when turning the ignition key, it is only after the third attempt that it starts. Occasionally, all the speed selector's lights turn on and no speed change can be made and it only reaches 40 mph and 4000 rpm. Some other times, the dashboard indicates Gas cap, the battery signal turns on and even sometimes the car stalls when driving. The front door windows sometimes stop working, but then I stop the car, start it again and luckily they start working properly once more. I personally believe it has something to do with the electrical part of the engine starting. What do you think? Thank you in advance.

Your problem is the battery, check it because it must be failing. The transmission is electrically controlled so, when not having enough electrical current, the computer starts failing.

Engine failure

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2001  170000 miles
I own a pt cuiser 2.0 ecc 2001, and would appreciate any information you could share with me about my car's failures. After changing the gasket, cylinder head and bent valves, it started presenting many sensors' failures : camshaft, oxygen, acceleration and MAP. The engine apparently starts properly when in dead center, it accelerates properly but, when changing to either D or R, the engine chokes and loses power, and even stalls. I would like to know if the problem is in the sensors, in the electronic control unit or in the gearbox. Thank you!

Your problem is that the ignition point is out of time, buddy.

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2005 Automatic 2.5 124404 miles
Bought this 05 cruiser from a snake oil salesman from a craigslist post of $2985.00 with who claimed it would last me a long time as long as I took it easy. Instantly dismissing the shaking that I felt in the steering wheel at approximately 30+ mph from the first test drive. Said oh that lil shimmy, it's no biggie I just drove it to ___ (city 1hr away) and it drove fine. Then the very last thing he showed me before I drove away in my newest craigslist investment was how the ignition would lock the key unless I jiggle thr gear shift (then it releases the key it like a normal ignition does when… Read complete
