Starting failure

Ford Mondeo 2002  32700 miles
My car has been serviced but the timing belts have been failing since then. The worst part of the story is that I took my car to a mechanic who told me it was a problem with the computer, so he removed mine and replaced it with a different one. When trying to start the engine, it does not respond and there is no way the car will start working.

The same happened to me, I also had many inconvenients with different mechanics but the last one found the solution to the problem: damaged valves which needed to be replaced.

Stalled and did not start

Ford Mondeo 2002  178000 miles
Hi, I own a Ford Mondeo Ghia and it happened to me that it suddenly stalled and did not want to start working again. The car was towed to a mechanic, the fuel filter was replaced and the engine started. Some days later, the vehicle started stalling when driving, either at 10 or at 75 mph. It now does it around 3-4 times a day and the orange light indicator turns on. One mechanic told me it is a problem with the fuel pressure, which is quite expensive to solve, but another one told me the failure might be caused by another thing. I really do not know what to do. Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Hi, I also have a Mondeo which experienced your same problem and, when changing the pump's diesel regulator, the problem disappeared.

The crankshaft sensor has been replaced, the belt was a bit stretched but the car continued failing. I have now been told that the problem might be in the electronic control unit.

Overheating

Ford Mondeo 2015 Estate 120000 miles
Have a Ford Mondeo X-Pack Estate, 2015 plate. Started overheating today as soon as I go over 40m/h. Engin coolant levels appeared to be in order. Stopped vehicle, kept motor running, waited for motor to cool down. Could hear fan running, but also heard weird clicking sounds for a few seconds. While motor running continued to unscrew cap on reservoir and all the flued just flushed away to its lowest level. Filled reservoir back up with engin coolant to fill line. Continued my journey, but vehicle kept overheating, but not as much as prior to continuation of my journey. Any ideas from somebody that might have had a similar experience or somebody that has the expertise. Much appreciated in advance.

Idle speed noise

Ford Mondeo 2004
All the Mondeos I know have an idle speed noise caused by the timing belt. The crankshaft pulley, belts and tensor have been replaced but the failure remains. If anyone has found a solution to this annoying noise, please let me know.

The noise is caused by the timing belt tension and, apparently, the only solution is to replace the whole tensor, timing belt and crankshaft pulley. However, I recommend you to try replacing the alternator pulley that comes with the vehicle, a fixed one, for a movable pulley, which is the one most of the cars have. You can install, for example, the Renault laguna 2 pulley and nothing else will need to be changed. Hope you can solve your problem.
