Hello, I need your help. After driving for a while, my Mazda suddenly overheats and then stalls. After 20 minutes, it is possible to start it again. Everything has been checked, even the radiator replaced, but no failure has been found yet.

Change the camshaft sensor.

I have exactly your same problem and have been told that it is the camshaft sensor as well. I'll replace it and hope the failure disappears. Thank you very much.

Great car

Mazda 323 1997
It is the best car I've ever had, it is not that fast when starting but has got a great speed when driving. It is economic and the engine lasts long, almost never failing. I absolutely recommend it.

I totally agree with you. My Mazda is already 25 years old and the engine has not needed to be repaired, not even once. It responds when you demand it and it has never stalled. It is comfortable and has got a reasonable fuel comsumption. If you take care of it properly, this car won't let you down.

Engine failures when starting the air conditioning

Mazda 323 2000  850000 miles
I bought a Mazda 323 1.3L 2001 and, at the moment of starting the air conditioning, the engine starts failing, the idle speed becomes unstable and, when starting after being stopped, it feels as if the car choked.

The same happened to me. The Mazda comes with a device that accelerates the idle speed when the air conditioning is turned on. It is electromechanic and, when it fails, it causes all the problems you've been experiencing. It can either be that the vacuum inlet is blocked or that the electric contact is dirty. Check them both and your engine will start working properly again, even when the air conditioning is on. It is not an expensive repair.

The carburetor must be dirty cause it supplies air and petrol to the engine any dirty to the carburetor may cause fluctuations on the engine while running.

Jerks

Mazda 323 1994  168000 miles
Good afternoon, I fuelled my car and, after 5 minutes, it started jerking. At first gear, it did not start, it stalled and overheated. Twenty minutes later, I tried starting it again and the jerks appeared once more. The reverse hardly worked, helped with the clutch and accelerating it. When checking it, I noticed that the terminals were considerably sulphated and so I immediately cleaned them with water. The car is still without being used, I hope you can help me.

Check the fuel filter. If there is no fuel, dirtiness might have been sucked.

Jingle after a 20 minutes drive

Mazda 323 1993  252000 miles
A year ago, I bought a Mazda 323 sw and, for a month now, a jingle has been appearing after driving for 20 minutes. It seems as if there was no fuel supply or its passage was blocked, but I've checked the filter and it is filled. I have also checked the carburetor, electric injector, nozzles and butterfly valves. I believe the problem might be an electrical failure.

I solved the problem by adjusting and calibrating the valves, as well as changing the gasket and spark plugs. The car has now got good power and a low fuel consumption. Hope it helps.

Jerks

Mazda 323 1996  190000 miles
Good morning, I have a problem with my Mazda 323F 96. When driving, it suddenly jerks, as if I stopped accelerating, but then continues working properly. I've already changed air and fuel filters as well as the spark plugs, checked the injectors and the flow meter and they are alright. What might be wrong? I would appreciate any comments. Thank you.

Radiator fan failure SolvedSolved

Mazda 323 1988  280000 miles
Hello, I have a Mazda 323 HS 88 and I hope you can give me a hand with it. When the engine temperature is around 90-92 degrees, the radiator fan should be activated. But, in my case, it does not start working unless the windshield wipers are activated. The wipers are starting to fail, and when they do not work, the radiator fan does not activate either. Can you help me please? Thanks.

I finally found the failure. I noticed that the wires from the air conditioning, the windshield wipers and the radiator fan, they all come from the ignition switch. A bad contact in this switch was the cause of the problem.

Raw fuel through the exhaust SolvedSolved

Mazda 323 2000  160000 miles
When starting the car for the first time in the day, there is a strong raw fuel smell emerging from the exhaust. It is only during some seconds that this can be noticed and it then disappears for the rest of the day. Is it possible that an injector is leaking?

Try changing the spark plugs, which are not expensive. May be their spark is too low or not enough, and that is why raw fuel smell is emerging from the exhaust. I hope my comment helps you solve your problem. Good luck.

Jerks and power loss

Mazda 323 1996  280000 miles
Hi, I own a Mazda 323 glx 1.6 96 and occasionally when driving, the car jerks or loses power. A valve was loose, I replaced it, but the problem persists. Even more, the exhaust emissions have a really strong smell, and I do not know what might be wrong. If anyone knows about these failures, please let me know. Thank you.

I noticed that the problem appears only when the fuel level is lower than normal. When it is over half of the tank, there is no failure. I was told the valve seals are the ones that are causing the problem.

Chokes when accelerating

Mazda 323 1999  95000 miles
Lately, both when starting and while driving, the acceleration has been absolutely choky. Do the coils have anything to do? Because, in the dark, sparks can be seen escaping when the engine is accelerated. I appreciate your help and time.
