Speed loss

Opel Corsa 2007  75000 miles
Hello everyone! I bought my Corsa 1.3 cdti in 2007 and many strange things have occurred to me when driving. Once, I was driving on a highway at 75 mph and I tried to overtake a car, but my vehicle did not accelerate; on the contrary, speed dropped to 45-50 mph. I stopped the car and it started jerking at dead centre. So I turned it off and, after a couple of minutes, I started the engine again; surprisingly, it worked p… Read complete

The IAC valve is the one that regulates the air flow and it must be causing your problem. Usually, it is filled with black soot so you can either clean it properly or buy a new one, and the failure should disappear.

Engine stalles

Opel Corsa 1994  296000 miles
Helo! I have an Opel Corsa 94 and yesterday, at the moment I arrived at a parking lot, the engine suddenly stalled. I started it again and the vehicle jerked and decelerated, when I was rather accelerating it. It seemed as if it choked, but anyway I managed to enter the parking lot and park my car. It left it there for around two hours and, when I returned and started the engine, it worked perfectly. What might have happened? Please help me!

Have you replaced the oxygen sensor?

Check if the ground wire is placed correctly and in proper conditions. If it is not that, check the spark plugs wires; if one of them is loose, push it downwards until you hear a clacking sound. After that, check that the battery light on the dashboard turns on when placing the key in the ignition, and it then disappears when you start the engine. If it keeps failing, it must be the alternator.
