Engine feels jumpy when idling or accelerating

Suzuki Swift 2008 Hatchback 76428 miles
I’ve been into the garage twice now and currently spent $2.5 k on fixes that haven’t worked: brand new engine + a whole new set of coils but the issue has continued.
I spoke the garage again and asked about the transmission mount and they said they tested it but there’s no issues showing - so what else could it possibly be??

It feels like the car is jerking or the accelerator is failing while I’m driving - it’s like a small jerk and makes me think the engine is about fail while I’m driving but then the issue will stop for a minute and then do it again. Repeatedly

I have only purchased a 2008, 1200cc suzuki swift 3 days ago and I am having this problem.
Sarah from New Zealand a year ago
Please let me know if you find a solution! Speaking to other people it’s typically just an issue with the coil so best bet is to start there.

But my car went into the garage at the start of January and is still there now - it’s so frustrating.

@SarahHi Sarah,
I'm currently in the process of it being inspected through AA pre checks, and if any other problem arises with the swift then I can book it into the garage to get it well looked at, In hopes they pick up the problem then I can let you know how I go.

@SophHi Soph, was AA able to pick up what is the cause for the problem?
Thanks

Receiving connection to start the engine

Suzuki Swift 2009 not receiving connection 34000 miles
I was aware that there was a coollen leaking underneath the engine, hence I was fixing it and mistakenly I touched the dynamo wire and one thread with my tool I was handling i. E ring and I noticed that a sparkling light and unfortunately the connection got lost as I was listening to music through the vehicle and working. And now everything in regards of the connection was lost. I have checked all the suspicious part likes fuse box and others however can't figure out the problem. Kindly suggest me what could be the issue with that. Your advice or suggestion will be highly recommend and appreciated.

My Suzuki Swift 2016. Was not starting but its cranking. The fault in computer reading was TCM and ECU. What was the Common cause of that ? what was the basic answer to solve that problem

Could be the oxygen sensor

Maybe try cleaning throttle body, by spraying throttle body cleaner. It just fixed my daughter’s car. She would pull up at the traffic lights & then had no acceleration for a few seconds. What a difference it makes once it’s clean. It takes a bit to get started again, though it readjusts itself. The car has got full acceleration NOW!!

Revs all over the place when on normal acceleration. Any clues?

Had the exact same problem. Replaced my coils, and plugs for good measure, and the little Swift drives well again.

Revolutions failure

Suzuki Swift 2013  21000 miles
Two weeks ago, I bought a Swift 2013 and today, when driving on a highway at 75 mph at 4th gear, the car jerked softly. When I tried to change it to 5th gear, I noticed revolutions could not be changed and it remained at 4th gear for a while. When it finally changed to 5th, the jerks disappeared but the engine lost power. After some time driving, the engine service symbol turned on and, when reducing the speed to park the car, I felt as if the car were about to stall and it vibrated considerably. The car was towed to the agency where I was told it was posibly a problem with the spark plugs. The vehicle was scanned and it was indicated that there was a starting failure. I would like to know if someone had this inconvenient. Thanks.

There are two things that need to be done: replace any burnt spark plugs - I recommend you to choose iridium ones- and clean the throttle body. And regarding the check indicator that appeared, you simply turn the engine off and start it again and it will not be there any longer. Hope the information helps you solve your problem.
Jimboy from New Zealand 7 years ago
Not iridium. They use a very special spark plug. Was reading about it in another forum a half hour ago. Back to this problem I am beginning to suspect some ecm used are faulty. ? There is a large number of non mechanical symptoms being found by some owners. As the quality of machinery is high going by Suzuki reputation maybe connection resistance, waterproofing , and sensor damage or failure is the real cause. My 2016 model is occasionally absolutely gutless. Mainly noticed when overtaking has to be abandoned through lack of response ! Agency say all perfect !

Timing belt breaking

Suzuki Swift 2005  180000 miles
My car's timing belt has just broken down and I cannot understand why. I have been told that the cylinder head gasket, timing belt and even valves need to be changed. My question is, why might have caused this?

Buddy, when the timing belt breaks it means that the crankshaft keeps turning while the engine is turned on and the camshaft is not moving. As the timing belt breaks down, the pistons go up and collide with the valves, because there is a lack of coordination between the two of them without the timing belt working properly. Hope you understand what is happening.

Losing acceleration

Suzuki Swift 2012 1.2 diesel 58000 miles
My car over the last 2 months has started losing acceleration mainly when I've slowed down coming to a junction. Sometimes even losing acceleration all together. My car doesn't cut out I have to turn it off for 5 mins and back onthen it's OK. But does this intermittently sometimes going days between. No engine management light comes on. I've had it in garage had a new fuel filter dpf clean and a new solenoid seemed to have worked until today its happend again. I've also had it in suzuki garage and they cannot find anything wrong just told me they have to be there when it happens to find out what it is. Its stressing me out as it doesn't happen all the time

Oscillations and power loss when starting

Suzuki Swift 2000  146000 miles
My Swift starts and works properly as long as I don't start driving it fast, or else oscillations appear as well as a power loss. Sensors, coils, wires and spark plugs have been changed but it did not respond any better. It was then thought some air might be leaking through the intake manifold, and the cylinder head gasket was serviced because some oil had started to be burnt. The gasket and valves were replaced and all the leakages were removed. After that, the vehicle sounded smoother but still, when starting after being stopped at a traffic light, it does not respond as it should; I need to… Read complete

Sound like you have a bend or leaking inlet or exhust valve/s, you not missed a cam belt change and had a busted belt as error codes shows two cylinders are leaking no real compression /power take out spark plugs and check all are dry and same colour then with spark plugs removed place a clean rag or towel over the top of the engine keep loose end well away from drive belts, turn over the engine and see if engine blows any muck water or oil in to plug spot on rag or towel these will be the cylinders that are leaking, if so its a cylinder head off job and expensive repair,

Accelerating failure

Suzuki Swift 2011  85000 miles
When driving and gearing, the acceleration raises to 3000-3500 rpm, without pressing the accelerator or it being stuck. I was told that the IAC valve needs to be cleaned but I do not know where to find it. Does anyone know how it is and where it is located?

In the Swift, it is an ordinary problem to find failures in the accelerator wire, as it is not electonic.
