Engine, lights and oil failures SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Amarok 2011  60000 miles
It has already happened to me twice that, suddenly, revolutions drop, a failure indicator turns on and the vehicle starts losing power until it stalls. There is no way to start it again after this happens. Even more, the lights use up in a not so long journey and it has got a high oil consumption, so I need to be careful that it does not reach minimum levels, which could damage the engine.

Hi, your problem is the secondary water pump; you replace it and the problem will be solved. Regarding the lights, I recommend you to change them for Osram ones, which are the best. And you should ask in the agency about the oil consumption; in my case, I was told the vehicle can consume up to 1.5 or even 2 liters every 6000 miles.

Power loss

Volkswagen Amarok 2010  120000 miles
While driving, I noticed a considerable power loss. Revolutions wouldn't exceed 3000 rpm and it was hard to move along slopes; the engine even stalled. It was finally found out that the problem was caused by the EGR valve, the electric system being sulphated and some circuit pieces being cut due to corrosion. Hope it helps.

When the EGR valve failed, what I did was to disconnect it, paying attention that it was closed when doing so. At the moment of replacing it, I protected the EGR circuit with an insulating dielectric, as well as the spring. This allows a longer EGR life, which is an expensive component.

Sounds like you could have lost an injector or worse a cylinder. Could also be something simple like your fuel pump in tank has failed. Without seeing the car it’s hard to say really

Water in air filter cooks engine on 2011 Amorack

Volkswagen Amarok 2011 Ute 150000 miles
My 2011 Amorack died going up a hill. They tell me water from the air filter has got into the engine and it has seized. Has anyone heard of this problem before? I had not been near or through any water when it happened.
