Power steering SolvedSolved

Chevrolet Malibu 2006  70000 miles
For a month now a "power steering" announce can be sometimes read in my car's dashboard. Does anyone know whether it is a mechanical or an electrical problem? And if it is mechanical, is any kind of liquid or oil required? If so, where is the corresponding deposit located? Thank you in advance for your help.

Your steering column module is damaged, a typical error in the 2004, 2005 and 2006 vehicles.

Power steering failure

Chevrolet Malibu 2006  75000 miles
One day my car announced a power steering failure and consequently the steering wheel stiffened. I then turned the car off and on again and it seemed as if nothing had occurred. However, after several days the problem returned and it is becoming more and more frequent as time goes by. I have investigated and found that many Chevrolet Malibu have got an agency's engine failure, so would like to know whether they are responsible for the repairs, as it is said in their bulletin: http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f13…… Read complete

Certainly yours is a frequent Malibu failure. You should go to the agency and demand a replacement of your power steering column, no matter whether the warranty has expired or not. In the least of the cases, you can choose to buy it online and install it yourself, it is not hard work as you do not need to reprogramme anything. Hope my advice helps you.

I've been told that the failure might be in a little engine that is located under the steering wheel, and that it can either be repaired or changed by a new one.

I am taking my car in Wednesday they are putting a torque sensor in and we will see if that fixes my problem. It's going to cost me about $400 to fix. Not good i will just have to work alot of overtime to cover Thanks Chevy this is what you get when your loyal to a company.

Did the torque sensor solve the issue?
