Check Engine indicator SolvedSolved

Chevrolet Optra 2005  141300 miles
My Optra 2005 needed to be repaired because the timing belt was broken and some valves were twisted, among other problems. Some days after this big repair, the engine light (MIL-check engine) turned on, but the car continued working without any failures. What might be happening? Thanks in advance for your help.

You should check the hose that goes from the air filter to the throttle body. It takes a sensor which is usually left loose; connect it and reset the computer. Good luck.

Type of oil

Chevrolet Optra 2007  126600 miles
Good morning. Yesterday I bought an Optra Design 79000 miles and I wanted to know if it is recommendable to change the timing belt. I would also like to know which kind of oil this vehicle requires. Thank you in advance for your help.

Every time you buy a vehicle that is not new, it is advisable to change the timing belt, as well as its pulley and tensor. Regarding the oil you should use, the best thing is to ask the previous owner the oil he chose as it is characteristic of each car and you should not be trying different oils.

I wanted to mention to you that this kind of oils are made up of a mixture of synthetic and mineral. You need to take into consideration that you can change from a semi-synthetic oil to a mineral one, but you cannot change it if your car has already used synthetic. This has to do with the maximum viscosity of each type of oil, which determines the free space between the pistons and the cylinders.

Thank you for your answers. I asked the previous owner and he told me he used 20 40 mineral, should I continue using this or change it?

Hello, try changing to 15W-40 and checking that there is no oil leakage. With this oil, you should notice that the vehicle is more efficient when starting it in the mornings. In my opinion, Loba is one of the best lubricants available.
