Hi everyone, I have a PT Cruiser 2001 and it is really hard to start the vehicle in the mornings. The engine needs to be powered many times and the accelerator pressed hard until it finally starts. Sensors, spark plugs and even fuel pump have been changed but the starting in the mornings is still a huge trouble for me. Has somebody had this problem and can please tell me what to do? Thanks
You should check the passage of gas valve, which needs to be cleaned and this is not indicated by the scanner. You might as well need to change the gas hoses, located behind the throttle body, which usually get damaged. The same happened to me with my PT 2001 and I also cleaned the injectors in order for it to respond properly and it is now working alright. Hope it solves your problem.
I have a Pt 2005 2.4 L. It simply wont start in the morning,it was runing smooth till 2 weeks ago but now i must push it in the morning and only then it starts. This happens after a couple hours of not moving...please help cause i really LOVE my PT.
My car's problem appears when trying to cross the street and accelerating. It chokes, and I need to release the accelerator for it to gain strenght. I've changed it to Neutral, accelerated it and revolutions reach 2500 per minute. At higher revs, it starts choking and won't go up. It has also got starting problems: it is sometimes hard to make it, and only after 4 seconds of starting it, it will turn on.
Hi, the same happened to me and I was told it was an engine's protection and so it did not go above 2500 rpm in order not to damage itself. I also felt my car rather slow and solved it by changing the crankshaft and camshaft sensors. Good luck.
