The best:I’ve beat the crap out of it in the oil feilds of west Texas and she keeps on keepin on. 67,000 miles of the worst roads in America 🇺🇸 and I’ve never missed a day
The worst:Abs, stability, traction, advance traction control is stupid if your trying to use an 2019 2wd stx like a pre runner
The best:I bought this truck, because it was cheap!
Everybody says, these Triton engines are junk, but I'm here to tell you, I'd put money on my 98 f-150, that she can out haul, out run any truck in her class, 242,000.0, still going strong and still hasn't used the 1st drop of oil, I've put alot of hard miles on it, been to California & back twice, the truck 'EARNED' MY RESPECT!
Still wouldn't trade it for 2 Brand-new Chevy's!
I'll junk her, if I can't get her to charge, getting close to it, aggravated with it!
The worst:Got a thing with the rearends, bearings like to wear out, changed mine twice, the 3rd time, I just bought a rear-end at the junkyard, saves work, money and time!
The worst:Has MyKey activated.bought it used with only one key.being curious I activated it. SMH.my dealer wants $500 for another key!!Not a lot of storage space.
Ford has one of the worst pcms around, it's been a pour design since the 80's leaving injectors open to wash down the cylinder every since I can remember and the spark plugs on the 4.6 & 5.4 who's the idiot who thought that one through, can't call that person educated, he's probably the same one who thought up the vtc another ford flop. I'm so glad ford circles the problem
Great running truck, hardly ever any issues. Found that all of the fuses are fairly easy to get to. If you can make sure you have fuses amp from 5-30 mini fuses only
Love my truck honestly. Have alwayd been a GM guy and this is my first Ford ever. I think i did good getting the V6 instead adnit has way less issues as the triton or 4.6. Only issues have been from poor maintenance before me.
Ive only had this truck for a month. Bought it in Georgia it was flawless, brought it home to Kentucky two weeks later and now it says it’s overheating and it’s not. I smell antifreeze but it never looses any. It had a dead miss which needed two coil packs and all 6 spark plugs.
It's a solid all around truck but 2004 is the most troubled year in terms of F150 mechanical issues. The spark plugs are notorious for being initially poorly designed in such a way that there now exists a tool specifically for taking them out when they break, and they have since changed the way they make said spark plugs.
Good and loyal truck. So far never had serious issues other than the ones you'd expect from a truck this old. I could only critic that the gas mileage is quite high.
