Trunk will not open in my Accord Tourer Diesel 2009

Honda Accord 2009 DIESEL ESTATE 2.2l 150000 miles
All of a sudden the trunk will not open in my Accord Tourer Diesel 2009 neither manually or with the keyfob/internal button on the driver's door. Real pain as the only way to open it is by climbing inside the boot and operate the manual emergency release.
No warnings showing on the dashboard and when the trunk is open I can still close it with the keyfob and button ! Checked fuse number 21 which is still ok , replaced it with new spare available but still no joy. Planning to also try and replace the 40a green square fuse though I think I'm wasting time on that as the electric closing does work.
Is there a hidden switch for the trunk/boot which I potentially triggered ? Some posts suggest there is one in the glove box or somewhere by the driver's door but I have none of them. Any other ideas on possible causes / solutions ? Cheers
PS : I must add that my engine management light is and was on even before this issue (caused almost certainly by dirty fuel as after a couple of REDEX fuel additives top ups the light goes off) ; I also disconnected the battery as I read somewhere that this could solve the problem but with no success

Totally by chance ! My son was pulling the door handle to open the passenger door whilst I (think) I pressed the open button on the remote just a fraction of a second after he pulled the handle; I noticed all the indicator lights went on on all sides (this had also stopped working on opening and locking the car at the same time as the boot stopped opening). So I thought : "I wonder if this has done something to the boot too ?" I went to check and bingo!!! The boot opened normally again with the button on its door!!! I remember I solved a similar problem in the same way when I had a VW Passat many years ago...there seems to be a secret way these doors are programmed !
I am just so very glad I didn't take the car anywhere to sort this issue out (as I was planning to do ) as I'm sure I would have spent a fortune with no resolution. I hope this may help someone
