Forced engine when turning the a/c on

Nissan March 2015  850 miles
I have a Nissan March Advance 2015 and I've noticed that, when turning the air conditioning on and changing gears with the gear shift, the engine feels quite forced between gear and gear. Sometimes, I even feel that engine asks for a higher gear itself, it jumps fast and it is reflected in the tachometer. This does not happen when the air conditioning is off. Is it normal?

Yes, it is normal. The air conditioning compressor uses power from the engine to work. That happens in all vehicles, but it might be less noticeable in cars with bigger cylinder blocks.

Thank you very much for taking your time to answer me. I was really worried about it and needed to make sure it was not a bigger problem. Thank you again!
