Engine runs but won't start SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 2001  143 miles
Hope someone can help me. I own an automatic Jetta 2001 and it was working properly until suddenly, one day, it wouldn't start again. The engine runs but there is no way it can be started. The fuel pump's pressure has been checked, the coil replaced as there were no sparks in the spark plugs, but the problem is still there. All fuses are alright as well as the crankshaft's sensor. The acceleration body has been cleaned and the battery replaced. Can the stereo have something to do? Because it is indicating SAFE 0000, meaning that the car is blocked? Can someone please tell me what to do?

After many attempts at trying to solve the same problem you are now having with my Jetta 2001, one day I found out that the temperature's sensor, through which the cooling liquid runs, had oil in its exterior. It was dirty due to a previous tuning, so I removed the connector to clean it and the failure disappeared. I really don't know how this can affect the starting, but I cleaned certainly deeply that connector, which has 4 pins, and the vehicle started as if nothing had happened. I then bought the sensor and the problem was finally solved.

Thank you, siller for reading and sharing your experience. After trying different things, I myself removed the crankshaft's sensor, took it to a good electrician and he said it was not working properly. I then bought a new one, installed it and it finally started.

Many failures SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 1999  135000 miles
The first failure in my car appeared from one day to the other. It was working perfectly one night, but the following morning it wouldn't start. There was some engine work but I could not start driving it. It seemed as though there was a fuel deficit, but it had been refuelled the day before. I checked the fuel pump, and surprisingly found out there was no sparking, so I logically thought the problem was with the coil. I changed it but it kept doing the same thing. I then checked relays, fuses and that there was electrical current reaching the coil and everything was ok. The crankshaft's senso… Read complete

The same happened to me and the problem is in the distributor.

I've changed the distributor and it seems as though the problem has been solved. At least for the past two days it has been working perfectly. Thank you very much!

Stalls when driving, EPC and oil indicators

Volkswagen Jetta 2002  168000 miles
I have a Jetta A 4 2002 and, when driving, it suddenly jerks, EPC and oil indicators turn on and it loses power until it stalls. I try to speed it up but it won't answer properly. Only after 20-30 minutes the engine will start again. The car has been tuned, the battery, oil pump and air sensor changed but it keeps doing the same thing. Can anyone help me? It really worries me when I'm driving and it suddenly stalls.

Check the electronic acceleration body, that is what the indicators mean.
