This is a common problem with the Focus...
Check the power steering line that goes to the pump, it's hard to work there but you should make sure that it's attached firmly. If the leak persists, you should probably replace the power steering pump. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

My 06 focus zx5 does the same thing. Started out only during heavy acceleration but now it does it when taking sharp turns. Is this hose the main corporate?

Probably your power assist powersteering. They used to run on belts alone. Gee and they never stopped working, unless the belt snapped.

Of course check fluid level first, (the cheapest diagnosis)

Same Same. Only happened after it was in for a service recently and connected it to the computer. Ford have quoted $3900 to rectify. The car has done 25k since new.

Most likely a dirty angle sensor on the power steering motor usually behind steering wheel attached to the steering collumn. Would involve the use of diagnostics and you will need to be familiar with repairing angle sensors.

Battery and alternator keep dying

Ford Focus 2013 ford focus hatchback se 80000 miles
Had the battery and alternator replaced, as car died. 2 days later, the car lost power steering and died again. Was told it was the battery and alternator again, knowing there was more than that, replaced them, and a few days later, same thing. Power steering goes out and car wont start. Mechanics at ford dealership cant figure it out, so maybe someone on here can help!

It starts up every time. Dies instantly if I don't press on the gas.

Ford Focus 2001  301000 miles
I have replaced blown fuses, idle air control valve spark plus and power steering cap. I managed to get it to stop stalling but then I turned it off and went inside my house. When I came back out hourse later the battery was dead and it jump started but died again. The battery was taken to AutoZone and upon picking it up to take it in the store battery acid poured out all over me. Bad battery replaced and still doing it all over again.
