Starting failure when cold SolvedSolved

Hyundai Accent 2006  139000 miles
Hello, everyone. When starting my Accent, I feel it heavy and notice that the temperature indicator takes a while to show the normal temperature. When starting it cold, I feel it even heavier and, if I stop accelerating, it stays as if there was no fuel. I've already changed the fuel and air filter and even the battery from the fuel pump which was damaged, but the failure persists. Even now, the battery makes a noise as if it were vibrating too much inside the tank. I've removed it and checked it and it is properly adjusted to the bottom of the pump, but it is still making a noise that can be… Read complete

You should first connect a pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure, which should be around 40 lbs. They should be maintained when closing the switch.
ALFIE from United States 9 years ago
Does this mean that it might be the fuel pump that is failing, JOHANNES? It worries me, but at the same time, when the engine is already warm, the failure tends to get better.

The mechanic I use, found that the engine ground was faulty. They replace the ground wires and all is well.

2006 Hyundai Accent Acting Crazy

Hyundai Accent 2006 4 Cyl 1.6 Engine 190000 miles
I've had the car for about 3 months now. When I bought the car I could tell they're was a bit of a hesitation anytime you started to take off from being at a stop. The other big issue I've had is anytime I pump gas in the car rather it be Full tank, half tank, etc. it will hesitate when I crank it back to the point to where I have to press the gas down in order to stop it from cutting off. It will crank right back but as long as I drive off it continue to give it gas it will go away in a few minutes. The check engine light also turned off periodically but recently has stayed on and the the las… Read complete

Car does not start

Hyundai Accent 2011 hatchback accent se 1.6 57000 miles
Car starts sometimes. Var used to run perfectly until one day i parked the car and when i came back it would not start. I noticed the check engine light did not come on in the ignition position. I check all relays, fuses and even replaced the cam and crank sensors and still no luck. The next day i went out to the car and turned the key and the check engine light came on and the car started, once i drove to the store and them vehicle had heated up to normal operating temp and then i turned the vehicle off and went about my business. I came back to the car and when i turned the key again i notic… Read complete

No start problem.

Hyundai Accent 2001 Hatchback 146000 miles
I bought the car after it has been sitting for a year. Put a new ignition coil and battery and it started right up. Ran ok for a couple days. Now it won't start. I put new plugs and wires, cam shaft and crank shaft sensors, fuel filter and fuel pump. I don't hear the fuel pump engaging and I have check all fuses. I am at a loss, any ideas would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with my 2013 accent. I first started by changing both head lamps. After that it worked fine for a short while. When I got home I kept the car on the on setting to see if I could figure out if it was a contact problem or worse. When I turned the bulb contact in the head lamp it's self it came back on. I figured out that if the bulb holder wasn't locked into the lamp properly it wouldn't work. Hope this helps

Not starting, won't turn over like battery is dead

Hyundai Accent 2001 4 door 43000 miles
Starts fine with a boost,ok for a couple days. Then same prob all over again. Changed battery terminals was ok for awhile. Going to check ground on engine and live wire to starter for corossion. Was told by dealer it was charging ok,will also check that again. Car is being used on short runs only. Will also take battery out and give it a good charge. Confused but never give up LOL. Any other ideas or known probs would be appreciated !

Vibrates at idle speed

Hyundai Accent 1999  190000 miles
My car vibrates way too much at idle speed. I've been having this problem for quite a long time now and, when scanning it, there is no error indicated. I've changed the injectors, fuel filter, spark plugs and its wiring, but the vibrations are still there. When I start driving it, the vibration luckily disappears.

Chck the connectors that lead to the coils. My car had one of those loose and that was the reason why it vibrated so much.

Jerks, power loss, stalls

Hyundai Accent 2000  138000 miles
I had to make a long trip with my vehicle and it was a real torture. It was not able to climb slopes, stalled every now and then, jerked and even consumed way too much fuel. The IAC valve, coil, spark plugs and its wiring and both the crankshaft and camshaft sensors had previously been replaced. All the new pieces were original ones, so the mechanic did not understand what was happening. After that, I asked him to show me all the vehicle's contacts, bought an electrical contact cleaner and proceded to clean one by one. Since then, the car has been working without any problems.

2005 gls 1.6 auto. When at operating temperature, vehicle slips going into overdrive and gets stuck in 4th gear. Have replaced all recommended sensors input/output transmission speed, vehicle speed, tranny fluid is full and not too bad, thinking of draining and switching out fluid since not knowing what the previous owners used for transmission fluid and read a lot about non- hyundai fluid causing the same issue. At a loss honestly, check engine light will stay off after battery disconnect UNTIL it does its lurch when downshifting from OD to 4th to accelerate. When it shifts rough, it won't go back into OD until you stop, turn off the car, take the key out of the ignition and restart. Again, if at operating temperature it'll do it again the minute it has the chance. HOWEVER... This has the push button OD button on the gear shift and I can drive it, using only the OD when on the highway going 70mph. If I need to pass someone or accel up a hill, I take it out of OD (3000-4500rmp) and once ready to just cruise, I push the button and it goes into OD.

Recently, when stopping to restart and get it out of "limp mode", it won't immediately restart. It'll act as if the starter is having issues... let it sit 3-5 minutes and it will crank over just fine. Really need this commuter car running but it's nickel and diming this single mom of an special needs kiddo! Any help????

Hyundai Accent 2006 4 door/ 4 cylinder  35549 miles
2006 Accent : is the Odometer Digital Readout supposed to be on at ALL times? It seems to be draining the battery. I have turned off/ disconnected all possible lights and switches and this is the only possible issue that I have discovered. I would assume the Odometer should shut OFF with the Key switch.

Intermittent starting priblem

Hyundai Accent 2013 Hatchback 90000 miles
Over the last few winters, my car wouldn't always start. I had to carry booster cables with me "just in case". I finally just changed the battery last year and the problem seemed fixed...until now. First the last two days, my car starts when it feels like it. Mostly I just hear the click of the solenoid but it won't turn over. All other electrical works (but I noticed today that I was able to raise my windows while the key was in off position). I also have remote start, if that could be an issue?
