Gearing

Hyundai Santa Fe 2001  100000 miles
Occasionally, my vehicle does not gear properly. I need to release the accelerator a bit in order to gear and it is not a soft change, rather sharp instead. When changing from Reverse to D, it jerks and I have noticed this happens sometimes as well when changing the transmission from D to Sport (semi-automatic).

You need to change Input and Output sensors (transmission speed sensor)
