Drove fine hoped in now it wont start SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Beetle 2013 1.4tsi 125000 miles
Hi all brought a 2013 1.4 turbo supercharge one owner with full service history, drove the car one day drove perfect no issues, parked it in the driveway now it won’t crank or start had it towed to mechanic thought it was the starter replaced it still no start I checked and replaced every relay and checked all fuses again no start it makes a click and a warring sound like a starter. I don’t think the mechanic knows said it could be a blown motor I said it drove fine parked it and went to restart and she won’t. Any ideas would be much appreciated

I have a 2004 turbo Super charge and I have the Same issue turned it off now nothing no sound when trying to start nothing at all and it was running fine ( So I have an update so I replaced the starter and now it starts right up ) Hope this helps!
Vermaditma from Australia 9 months ago
Thanks Jellybean, he didn’t even fit the starter shoved it in the boot unopened. Friggin idiot and told me I need a new motor. I think he wasn’t interested just wants to do quick servicing. He had my car for 6 weeks. Again thanks for the input and I’ll get someone to fit the starter with a new battery. Much appreciated
Vermaditma from Australia 9 months ago
Thanks for that, when I got my car towed back home from that mechanic, mind you he had my car for 6 weeks. He never even put the starter motor in he shoved it in the boot unopened. Hard to find a good mechanic in Wollongong that knows how to fix European cars. Had had an issue with 2 bmw’s I owned before 2 different issues had 6 mechanics both times to try to solve the issue. Not one could tell me what the problem was. I ended up fixing both cars by myself I’m not a mechanic, if I listened to them I would of been out of pocket for thousands one car cost me $65 to fix and the other cost me $5. Goes to show don’t trust some mechanics. I think with the VW it was to hard for him and just gave me the worse scenario just for me to take it away. Thanks again and I’ll definitely get the started put in and a new battery as it is 6 years old. I’ll let you know how I go,

I'm glad I could be some help! Hope it all works out! Everyone need good mechanic. They can trust. 😃

Depleted battery

Volkswagen Beetle 2002  200000 miles
My car's charge is depleted from one day to the other. I've already bought a new battery, replaced the alternator, starter, fuses and even confort module as indicated, but the solution is still to be found. I would like to know if it is necessary to change the computer, as I have just been told that the alarm remains activated and that its failure is in the computer. I would not like to buy a new one until I am completely sure that is the cause of the problem. What do you think about it? Thanks.

It won't start

Volkswagen Beetle 1999  19000 miles
When driving, suddenly the car stalled and, when I tried to start it back again, it did not. I provided some current to it and still did not start. I replaced the battery with a different one and still nothing. Does anyone know why it is not starting?

You should give some more details about it. Does the engine sound? Is there any strange noise? Do the dashboard indicators turn on? It is quite a complicated problem to know without more information.

It was showing the battery light but after changing the battery it still cannot start but it becomes on and the dash board lights

Stalls after 45 minutes of starting

Volkswagen Beetle 2000  210000 miles
I own a Beetle 2.0 year 2000 and it stalls after around 45 minutes of starting it. I have already changed its coil, camshaft and crankshaft sensor, fuel pump, relay 409 and throttle body but it keeps turning off suddenly. I've been trying to find a solution for a month and a half but without positive results. Does anyone know something about it?

I had the same problem with a Beetle 99 and it was solved when a piece, which I don't know the technical word, that is in charge of controlling the air flow to the engine, was replaced. It is an electronic gadget and in my case it was burnt.

The name you are searching for must be the MAF sensor.

Turns over but won't start

Volkswagen Beetle 2004 Convertible 04 beetle. 1.8 turbo 75000 miles
My car stalled in the middle of the road, tried charging it and nothing so I replaced the battery and it still won't start. It tries but just doesn't catch. It made a weird noise like it was grinding I know if it was the alternator it should still start (I think anyways). My dad said possibly timing belt or some sensor. Please help me figure it out if anybody knows about this

My 2001 beetle did the same thing. Turned out was timing belt. If you have an interference engine it's a 50-50 chance valves got damaged. I lucked out since my husband is a mechanic knew right away. The more you try to start it the greater the chances of damaging the valves

Check the alternator. Use an electrical current reader while the car is on and check the numbers and see if it’s fluctuation or holding steady google alternator testing I don’t remember exactly how to check it but did it on my truck when it wouldn’t start before testing the starter by tapping on it with a wrench and listening and someone turning the key.
ronnie from United States 3 years ago
Checked the amps and the key fuse reads high. Take the fuse out and car will not start. Run battery down after a few days

Random misfire on random cylinder.

Volkswagen Beetle 2000  190898 miles
2 L inline 4 2000 year. No fuel pressure unless you block the fuel return line. And a random misfire on at first piston 4 now on piston 1? the coil pack was replaced with new, new sparkplug wires, new temperature sensor, replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Problem persists... low to no power on acceleration can move car when rpms are slowly raized but only up to 3000 rpm. If you block the fuel return line can accelerate but the fuel pressure will remain at 80 psi, standing fuel pressure is at 38 psi; when vaccuum line to fuel pressure regulator removed the standing pressure goes to 48 psi.

Overheating and fans failure

Volkswagen Beetle 2000  200000 miles
Hi everyone, I have a Beetle 2.0 and its engine overheats. Apparently, water is not flowing properly, so it seems to be a failure in the water pump. When starting the engine, the ducts from the radiator's entrance are fulled with pure vapor and the hose that leads to the water deposit is not blocked, but still water does not leave when accelerating. The fans do not start working either when the car overheats. The fuel pump has already been replaced but without positive results. Might it be that the new pump is damaged as well? How can I make sure it is not the head gasket that is failing? How can I notice whether the pump is working properly? Thanks.

You should check that hose you are talking about, the one that leads to the water deposit. It usually happens that it blocks on the engine head's side.
jorge from United States 9 years ago
First, leave the engine warm up a bit, pick up the hose from the inferior and superior radiator and, if only one of them is hot, it might be that the radiator is damaged or dirty. If not, if your fans are not working, check the engine temperature switch, disconnect it and, using a wire, link the two connector terminals. If they start working, replace that switch.

If it has a cheap water pump fitted Iv seen the plastic wheel on them break up or break off but not cause any leak. I’d check a few things with this issue remove the thermostat place it in a kettle and boil it see if it opens or simply replace for about £8 flush the radiator to check for blockages. Test the fan actually works get a power probe put positive to the fan it should spin. If it doesn’t replace the fan if it does check fuses and relays. Check heater matrix pipes on back of the engine could have previously had loads of k seal placed in it and it’s all blocked up you can flush it with a hose to test. Get a decent mechanic or buy a decent leakdown tester twin gauge from eBay £40 requires use of a compressor. Place engine to top dead centre make sure all valves are closed. Remove spark plug or glow plug and insert gauge. Pressurise the head. Check for bubbling in the coolant check for compressed air leaving via the exhaust. This will determine the condition of not only your engine but the head and inlet and exhaust valve. Great bit of kit. If your local to york I’ll hapily perform that test for you. Regards Andy.

Volkswagen wont start, want solution? Here it is! The car came with an amplifier installed in the trunk behind the back carpet cover. If anyone ever replaces the sterio, well now we have an issue. With the key off, due to the wiring of the radio, the amplifier does not power down, even with key removed, thus the battery stays weak and usually will be dead within 12 hours. Simple fix, remove the radio, can see how on-line using tools, personally I used a 6" steel ruler in the slots each side of radio and it released. Once the radio is pulled out you will notice two power wires, one yellow and one red. Cut these wires and swap the red to yellow and the yellow to the red. This will power down everything in the car when key is turned off INCLUDING the power amplifier. No more issues. Push radio back into place. Down fall is you will not be able to save radio stations, like who cares, hit seek. You can also install a 40 amp. Fuse going to the amplifier which will work, but that is a pain in the back. Good luck

Stalls after 10 minutes of driving

Volkswagen Beetle 2004  177 miles
Good afternoon, I have a problem with my Beetle 2004 and hope someone can give me a hand. After driving without any problems for around 10 minutes, the vehicle stalls and won't start again. I need to wait for at least 10 more minutes and, only then, the engine will start working again. I hope you can help me solve it. Thanks.

Weird spaceship sound in engine

Volkswagen Beetle 2007 Convertible 2.5L FI DOHC 5cyl 92000 miles
This doesn't happen all the time but when it does, I start the engine and after about 60 seconds a humming starts up and gets louder and louder then maintains. When I shut off the engine in buzzes back down, it sounds like a nuclear reactor starting... I was thinking it might be the engine fan or a bad starter solenoid. I could use some advice...

Starting problems

Volkswagen Beetle 2003 2.0  189000 miles
My car has been acting funny. It started a few months ago once in a while it takes 2 times to start the car. Now its weak like it cant start. The battery was low. I charged it up and this morning it wouldn't start right away and sounded like there was no power. But with jumper cables i was able to start normally. Wondering if the battery is bad or do i need to get a new starter

Electrical wire overheating

Volkswagen Beetle 2008 convertable 140000 miles
The middle wire on the battery terminal buss bar is getting hot when running. Additionally the car will suddenly die at low speed and sometines the key won't turn. Are the three related. We just got the car as a repo and the previous owner apparently had issues because the middle wire has been spliced about 8" from the termial box and it has a brand new battery. I am thinking it could be the ignition switch. Where can I find an electrical diagrahm
