Hi, I have a Kia Rio hbrs 2002 and, two days ago, I turned off the car when arriving home and, 5 minutes later, I tried to start the engine again, but it was useless. I have not been able to start it since then. I've checked it and noticed that the spark plugs have no spark at all and the Check engine indicator blinks 9 times when opening the switch. Does anyone know what might be happening?

You should check the crankshaft and camshaft sensors, as well as the MAF, IAC, and TPS valves and each of the fuses.
Hello, finally I solved the problem. It was a damaged fuse together with the camshaft sensor, which was out of order. I changed both things and the problem disappeared.
After changing brain box two of the plugs are not working, and my car is miss. Kia Rio 2005.

Good afternoon. I have a Kia stylus 2010 and the failure that it has been presenting is that, suddenly, it remains accelerated and revolutions increase at the same time. This can happen at any speed or even in neutral and the only way to make it decelerate is turning off the air conditioning. Not always, but it sometimes happens, that after a short period of time, I turn the air conditioning on again and the vehicle works without any problems. Even more, sometimes the klaxon stops working. I personally believe it is an electrical failure, but no alert is turned on in the dashboard. I would appreciate it if anyone could guide me and help me find the solution. Thank you in advance.

Good morning, check the idle speed sensor and valve, as they tend to fail quite a lot.
You should take your car to an electrician and scan it. It can either be that the injectors are failing, that the throttle body is dirty, that the IAC or TPS are failing or even that the fuel filter is blocked.

This car is not yet one year old. This car has been in the shop at Kia 8 times for dead battery. Th Kia people can never find a problem. We have had 3 new batteries put in and the 4th will be installed this week. I am ready for legal action

I have the same problem. Car (8 months old Rio)was not in use for 5 days and then the battery was completely empty, could not even unlock the door with remote. Recharged the battery and now is working, will see how long. Kia service didn't gave me any explanation, why this happened, so i searched for a second opinion of a very good car electrician. He believes that the problem in most likely in the smart clamp - an electronic part which regulates or programinig a work of alternator (which charges the battery). The same problem with smart clamp is also frequently noticed with new German VW.
This smart clapm is expensive, so that could be the reason why the they don't want to replace it with the new one, unless they are 100% shoore it is defective.

I’m having this issues with mine. It’s probably a year old now in my ownership at least. And now it’s having issues just starting. Any advice?

If your car runs on petrol/gasoline the most likely cause would be a bad spark on a cylinder. If the plugs seem fine it’s most likely a coil. I believe there individual on the Kia Rio. A simple diagnose of the vehicle would. Confirm this.
Sounds like a mis-fire... these engines are direct injection. The fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. Sadly the valves dont get cleaned by the gasoline. Could be a build up of carbon by the valves. Might need to be cleaned. This happened to my kia rio at about 117 000kms

Most likely ignition coil related a simple scan of the one port will confirm tha fault.

My check engine light turned on so I pulled over and checked everything, oil, coolant etc. My oil was low but not empty so I filled it up and couldn't find anything else that was running low. So I assumed it was the oil causing the light to turn on. Since filling the oil up the light hasn't turned back off, after driving for another 40 mins I pulled over again and restrained checked. Any suggestions on what else to check? Or is there a reset for the engine check light?

Yes disconnect your battery for 10 minutes...light will go out , but my come back on, mine does it to, I think it's the c02 censor on exhaust,. Or maybe my cats a little clagged...high mileage car...

Crossed the wire when I put in the battery in backwards, the horn stared to go off. I removed the negative connection, flip it to the correct position. It starts, now I have warning lights for the ABS, battery and brake on. No radio, heat or rear defrost working. Any ideas on what to look for?

Sounds like you have blown several fuses. Take it to an auto electrician.

When starting the car,it would crank,but not turn over(50% of the time),and when it does start,it drives fine,but this past week, the battery light and oil light came on,and the car was at the stop light,and wouldn't move,while everythingelse was functioning(radio,ac,etc),so I put it in park ,and turned the key,it cranked right up. Have had the same problem, remove the drivers seat and seat belt plastic cover and you will be able pry open the door panel enough with the inaccessible retaining screw, to get to the locking mechanism. Then from other reviews I had read there is a spring that fails regularly in this year model which you can manipulate with a screwdriver to open the door( if unsure of how it operates, remove the passenger door to view the operation) and Google/YouTube that shit till you find it. My issue was the spring and also the locking hook/assembly on the the door, two of the 3 retaining screws had come loose and jammed the door/lock which you could not see at all. A forcible entry was required by using/holding weight on a pry bar between the gap of the door as close as possible to the lock and prying till it came open( 2 person operation) quite frustrating when you can't see why. Engine won’t start after turning it off for brief period

Seems to start fine initially and drive fine as well. Recently at very random occasions (like if I stop for gas) it seems as though my Kia won’t start. The lights come on, it makes the sound as if it’s cranking but nothing and then all the lights go completely off or dim. This has happen three times as of today over then span of two months and two of the times it has reset my dash view. (Trips starts back at zero or changes from viewing mileage left in tank to a trip or avgerage gas mileage. ) there doesn’t seem to be any warming as to when it happens and there has not been any signals lighting up in the dash and the car gets regularly serviced it just happens. Any thoughts?

I have fuel in my Kia and I have a great battery in my Kia but when I turn the key switch the motor wont start if I cross the starter over the engine will start. What could be the problem? Beside the roll button for the dash lights there is a little black switch that has three metal prones there is a light that flashes all the time even when the key is out of the ignition. What is that light?

Original problem: after hearing to operating temperature vehicle will not accelerate no engine power or rpms, pull over put into park engine would rev up, put back into gear no rmps. Actions: removed MAF Sensor cleaned with MAF cleaner crc , cleaned throttle body, removed IAC Sensor cleaned with throttle cleaner crc brand. Inspect spark plugs all are good and gap correct.

Dear friends, I would be really thankful if you could help me. I have a Rio and yesterday, when trying to start the car, it did not respond. The engine turns but it won't start working. I really do not understand what happened. I've checked every single fuse and they are all fine. When I give contact, the everything turns on normally on the dashboard, except for a light that shows the figure of a car with a key in the middle. I was told that the immobilizer had been activated.
