Air conditioning doesn't cool SolvedSolved

Ford Explorer 2007  155555 miles
Every morning I start the engine of my car and the air conditioning works properly. But as I drive to my workplace it stops cooling. I've serviced it but have been told that the real cause is that the signal does not reach the valv, which is not an air conditioning issue but an engine failure, which would be a worse and more expensive problem to solve, because catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, spark plugs and coils would need to be replaced. What is your opinion?

I've been working in mechanics for 25 years and it is the first time that I hear that in order to solve an air conditioning problem you need to replace all that stuff. It has nothing to do with it.

Hey, your problem is the fan clutch, which has got an electronic sensor and it must not be working. Once this happens, the car's fan does not start and a signal is sent to the Engine Control Unit to protect the vehicle from an engine overheat.

It is the sensor corresponding to the bottle where gas is supplied that fires.

I have a 2003 explorer xls. Just replaced the terminals, battery and alternator and it was working fine til I got home from taking my mother out for her birthday dinner...went to start it and the lights come on but as soon as I put the key in the acc position it showed all sorts of warning lights then I cranked it over and poof the whole thing went dark, had to take the battery out to charge and waited 14hrs (trickle charge on a 12V charger) and did the same thing! I checked fuses and every relay under the hood and in the passenger compartment but nothing was evident so can anyone give me any ideas?? Please I'm desperate, my vehicle is my life line and without it I feel stuck...

Same issue, no start but has power, replaced the battery and fuses and gas cap, alternater, starter, been to 3 different shops, and No mechanic seems to know what their doing, last one replaced fuse#22, when I asked for the MAS sensor and connector checked for weather it was working and to fix it. Called me to pick it up saying it was fixed after replacing the fuse. I drove it 30 miles down the freeway and stopped at the store and once again NO START! called mechanic, was told I'd have to pay for a diagnostic again!! What does fuse #22 have to do with the MAF sensor?? I couldn't get it started even though I cleared the codes which worked before so I unplugged the MAF sensor and it started! So obviously the shop didn't fix it ! I'm so pissed. FYI if the alarm has stopped it from starting you need to clear the codes and it should start. A temporary solution until fixed and or unplug the battery neg. Terminal for 10 minutes to clear codes, then make sure to follow the book for the correct steps to take after starting for it to relearn correctly. Getting ready to take it to yet another shop! There should be a recall on it due to this issue!

Sounds similar to my issue. I have a 2016 Explorer XLT 1/16/2023 i went to start my car and it was dead. I had a mechanic stop by and check it. After playing with it for a while he was able to get it to start. He said engine cranked too much. He deactivated the fuel pump. Didn't find any fail issues. After plugging it back in it started. Sid the engine was flooded with fuel. I didn't drive the car at all that day after he fixed it. The next morning (Tuesday) on my way out to work I got in the car, and it didn't start. I had it towed to a local shop. They were not able to look at it unit Wednesday. I get a call from the shop, and they are telling me it started right up. However, they did replace a fuel pump module. I picked the car up Wednesday evening. It drove fine until Friday afternoon; I was leaving work for lunch, and it was dead. Had it towed back to the same shop. It sat there all weekend until Monday when a mechanic was able to look at it. I get a call Monday morning and they are telling me it started right up. They had it sit longer and started a few more times to be sure. No issues found. I picked my car up Monday afternoon. It drove fine and started several more times throughout the day. The following day Tuesday afternoon on my way out the door it was dead again. Once again, I had it towed. However, this time to a 3rd mechanic. They looked at it Thursday morning, and guess what,,,Yes the car started right up for them no issues. I have gone to the shop twice since they told me it was working and found no issues. After having it towed 3 times to several different shops and having 4 different mechanics look at it all told me it started right up the following day, and they cannot find anything wrong with it. Battery is a few months old. Starter, alternator, fuel pump was all checked multiple times. Key fob works, doors lock, and unlock, lights and radio all working. It just makes a sound attempting to start, but nothing happens. I finally decided to schedule an appointment with a Ford dealership. I'm in Illinois. Right now, it's cold and snowing. I have a very busy schedule thought the morning and evening. I cannot risk driving and being far from home and my car decides to play dead. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Hoping Ford and crack the code. Wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.

This is what we've been going through too. Been towed to the shop 3 times, mechanic fixed the shifting cable which was a problem, but all this after it had been running fine for 3 years and 160,000 miles...had the transmission rebuilt - biggest mistake yet. It's been nothing but trouble since. Transmission shop keeps re-fixing things, but now it's dead in my driveway yet again. Ran fine yesterday. And yes also changed the solenoid twice, seemed to help for a little bit. It's a 2006
AshBee from United States a year ago
Same issue i'm having with my ford explorer 2003 AWD. Smh. Took it back multiple times to the mechanic and it seems to start when they have it. When I get home it's something different. I think they replaced my starter 4x. Changed the solenoid, fixed some lose wires. Still can't solve the issue. But a friend of mine said that he was having the same isssues with his truck and switched his starter to a Direct Drive Starter. This will be my last hope.

It was a broken actuator in the ignition column. It's just a flimsy piece of plastic that I can only find in PLASTIC of course. If anyone knows where I can get a metal one that works from some aftermarket parts distributor let me know. Thanks and I hope that this helps a lot of people. It seems to be such a big issue that Ford Motor Company should've issued a recall on this type of problem. I have seen hundreds upon hundreds of forums and videos with people who have had this same issue in several Ford vehicles leaving people stranded and some with the steering wheel locking while driving!

Trouble starting

Ford Explorer 1997 4L v6 sohc 76000 miles
When you put the key in ignition and turn to start the car will not start, you turn the key to off and remove the key all the dash lights stay on only way to turn them off is disconnect the battery. We can start the car with a wire from battery to starter relay but it will not switch off and carries on running even with key out so we have to pull the battery lead off or unplug the ignition switch. The ignition switch and ignition barrel have been replaced but this has not solved the problem. Any help will be appreciated

Won't start and some acceleration problems

Ford Explorer 2011 Suv, automatic, 4 wheel drive 690000 miles
So this is the second winter in a row that I verify had to replace my battery multiple times. It's only been a week but again today my car wouldn't start. Also once my car is jumped and running game I'm having problems accelerating. If I need to accelerate quickly my check engine light will come and the car almost stalls. Then sometimes while in drive (usually I notice this when on the highway) sometimes my car will de-accelerate for a couple of seconds and I can hear a high pitched noise. I have no idea what this could be and when my car was just in to have the battery replaced my internal computer showed no other issies. I own a 2011 Ford Explorer with about 70,000 miles on it. I am the second owner and I love in Pennsylvania so our winters can be pretty cold!

Ignituon coil problem 1997 ford explorer
Otra vez chingado! from United States 7 years ago
Coils, of whatever type, whether they be of cars or an electric motor or transformers of household electronics, can develop shorted turns. This is a short circuit across a number of loops of wire in the winding of the coil. When this occurs, it is like having an extra, and undesired, transformer secondary with a load of zero ohms resistance connected across it. This absorbs a lot of energy from the coil due to the extra current. The result is overheating, and, possibly fire or explosion such as you had.

Acceleration problems

Ford Explorer 2005  245 miles
Good morning everyone. My car is a Ford Explorer Eddi Bauer, year 2005, motor 4.6 and it is having considerable acceleration problems. What is more, the air conditioning sometimes stops cooling. I've already changed the fuel pump, the fuel filter, injectors and coils. I've even changed all of the spark plugs but the problem persists. I mostly notice that it won't accelerate properly when I'm driving on an uphill road.
