2012 Honda Accord lx sound system

Honda Accord 2012 Sedan  88000 miles
Hello, I have a 2012 Honda Accord lx and my stereo has a issue with cutting out at random times with a thump noise while playing music and In order for the music to turn back on I have to restart my car and sometimes that takes a couple of restarts to get the radio working again. I’m not sure if I have a short in some wires or a bad stereo but I just want to fix it. If anyone had ran into the same issue with their car please get back to me and tell me what you did.

My 2010 Accord LX does the exact same thing. Did the backlight on your radio buttons go out? At night I can't see the radio controls at all. I usually have to restart, but today it started coming back on its own after a few minutes. It's very weird! I don't know what to do.

My 2012 Honda Accord is having the same issue. The backlight on the radio is out and my radio will make a thumb/pop sound then go out randomly. It turns back on once I restart my car. It's doing it more frequently now. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

My 2004 4 cyl Accord LX started making the popping sound in stereo, then auto windows problem (up and down with no pressing button). Finally it shut down completely at a 4 way stop with wife driving. She coasted to the shoulder near neighbors home. Then neighbor couldn"t get the auto transmission stick to move into neutral or anywhere. We had him try the slot/screwdriver solution available in 2004s. This unlocks the transmission console allowing shifting into neutral. This was also during ice storm. The next day, I was able to jump it off. I took the car to a friends shop. This friend has 40 yrs plus experience and has owned 2 auto repair shops. He has a mechanical device designed to vibrate/shake a car [helpful for diagnosing shorts. etc.). He had to replace multiple bulbs {example tail lights}. He said the car was blowing bulbs, etc. one after another and bypassing the fuses and systems put into place to prevent this type of thing I live in the deep south with high humidity. The trunk seal allowed the trunk to flood. I'm afraid it's ruined even though the engine looks brand new and it barely has 100,000 miles.
We'd bought 2 new Accords from this dealership, the 04 being the second. Now new owner was extremely rude to my wife. The last time I had them work on the 04, I was having a front headlamp replaced along with a scheduled maintenance. Not knowing this maintenance included replacing cabin filter I'd bought one on the way home. I replaced it noting the dust bunnies, and dead yellowjackets, etc. I then checked the headlamp. They hadn't replaced it! Then, I saw they'd put a new cabin filter on the invoice, a vanity plate replacement (it's never had one), so by this time I was boiling. I took the car back in , held the nasty filter in the face of the Maintenance manager, explaining they'd written a new one on the invoice and sent me home with the nasty one. Showed him the filter receipt I'd bought and replaced. Then informed him they'd failed to replace what I took the car in for to begin with. The headlight. I watched through the window of the shop as he called a young mechanic over. After a few seconds this mechanic appeared to have his tail between his legs , shamefaced. The new irate Indian owner of this dealership told my wife he'd charge $250.00 to have it towed to the shop if it wasn't their fault. She'd explained the mechanics findings. I'm not proud of it, but I'm a very stubborn man. I rarely argue with anyone, but when I do, I don't have a "kill switch", so to speak. My wife and I are both disabled and are left with one 2003 truck. I've taken my wife to the ER 3 times. It's a matter of time before I won't be able to get to a hospital 2 miles away without calling an ambulance and paying the $800 plus bill that ensues after the 2 mile ambulance ride. Any suggestions. I believe I need a Corporate contact. I only hope they have kept the last service record online. Jerry , Canton, GA.

Problems 2013 Accord EX-L 4cyl 2.4L

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L Sedan 2.4L CVT
Dealer did a recall update of audio system in march 2013 to repair defects in audio system. This update immediately began to interfere with the car's cell phone blue tooth connection causing loss of pairing, loss of speed dials, etc. I have contacted the dealer and honda factory representative repeatedly. The only response i get is they are working on a solution. Spoke to honda engineering several times. They offered two suggestions which did not solve the problem. Recently i spoke to engineering and their suggestion this time concerns me. I was told that shifting the car out of park before th… Read complete

I, too, own a 2013 Accord EX-L/Nav 4 cyl. Though I was very pleased with the car overall, I can’t say the same for the way I feel about the way in which Honda- both the local Dealer, nor the Honda America company – treat their customers. It is one convoluted bureaucracy where their lack of knowledge is only overshadowed by the gall in which they espouse their ridiculous wisdom.
The only issues I had with the car during the first 2 years or so were merely inherent in the design of the car: the Terrible ‘deluxe’ audio system sound and the CVT transmission’s idiosyncrasies. Also, I got the initial computer update – luckily - as when I first spoke with them w/ re to some various phone/audio system issues, they really had no clue and were planning on the usual ‘we must see for ourselves’ service appointment. On the appointment date, they had just received the first firmware/software update which did help.

Within a short period of time, a computer glitch developed- one that I was eventually emotionally beaten down from and drained. The system stopped letting you choose the 2nd page of ‘phone history’ when the car was moving. When you would scroll to the end of the first page of 5 telephone numbers/names, a note would show at the bottom of the screen telling you to ‘say ‘ ’next’’’ into the car’s microphone as it was supposed to go to the next screen. This stopped working. You would be taken to a different screen altogether! Upon bringing the car back to DCH Academy Honda a few times, as well as speaking with Tech Support American Honda, the results were so off the wall that it’s unbelievable that this company is still in existence. Both would offer answers such as ‘it’s supposed to be that way’, or, ‘go see how another car’s system operates’! How insulting. A- it never had done this in the past, B-why would it ‘tell’ you to go to the ‘next’ screen if it wasn’t going to do anything?
I had written out very good, concise explanations – with screen pictures - of the issue for the service managers. Yet, when they ‘had to see the issues for themselves’, invariably, as we drove together, they proved that they had no clue of both what the system is supposed to do and more so, what I was even talking about. I was exasperated: my emotions-defeat, trapped, walled-off, and anger - all started to escalate to a point where I wanted to blow, to have someone with a mind just LISTEN. This was just unbelievable.

By then I had already started my Log of conversations, phone calls, meetings, etc. After speaking ad infinitum to various level ‘service’ managers (a joke), they finally agreed to change ‘something’. As soon as I heard what they wanted to change, I knew they were totally on the wrong track. (they were changing out the ’hands-free link module’; not the problem as it worked for other functions, etc.). Each level in their hierarchy of service people were merely there as a wall to wear one down, as none knew more than the next. And, each one had the same lack of knowledge as to what the system is supposed to do, thus necessitating my repeating myself each time as they just didn’t read the paperwork. And, each time, they were in touch with their Tech Support and still getting ridiculous answers to what should be done or more accurately what shouldn’t be done. Anything. By the way, some other screens on the computer had started acting in an aberrant way, too.
[I’m not listing all the visits, nor names, nor other thoughts that I (a geek) offered to them, nor other attempts to remedy the issue that were made at this time]

After finally getting a referral to a potentially advanced tech person at one of their affiliated Honda dealers, I was actually shocked to see that this person did understand the problem and did offer to help. He convinced his manager to finally change the computer module. Wow, home free. Not!
[Don’t let me leave out the part where their ‘business sect’y’ called me to tell me that I was not covered for this repair, but that they would do it for me as a goodwill gesture. Totally wrong. Not just did this issue start when under the initial warrantee period, but I also had the extended warrantee which spelled out exactly that it was indeed covered. Another insult. ]
Result: though some issues in the computer system did improve, my basic problem was NOT Rectified by this new computer. Not to mention that the unit no longer lists nor speaks Zagat Restaurant reviews- a real perk that surprised me when I first got the car.
This brings me to where I am now. I spoke to tech support at American Honda again, after sending a lengthier letter- with Pictures of what was going on on the screen. They called me back. Though this person, too, really didn’t know what the specifics of my computer were, he explained to me that ‘…not enough people complained about the problem to warrant their intervention…– to fix it’. What an answer!!!
I called/wrote them again months later and upon their call-back, was further exasperated when told that the part must be found broken by the Local Dealer who would then notify American Honda and then they would have the ability to help. ISN’T THIS FAULTY LOGIC, CIRCULAR REASONING AT ITS BEST!! I felt so trapped, locked in, defeated, and wanted to bust out. Their attitude was totally one of walling you off from them in every sentence that she stated – almost scripted for her. So, where do I go now?

Problems 2013 Accord LX

Honda Accord 2013 LX Sedan 2.4L CVT
It so far has happened to me twice that i need to jump-start the car. There probably has some electrical leakage issues or something related to it. The first time it was more than a year ago that when i came earlier to a doctor appointment waiting for the clinic to open, i turned off the car and left the cd player on. But it only played for about half an hour or so it turned off automatically due to the battery power has already been depleted and the card could not start at all that i had to call aaa after the doctor appointment to jump-start for me. I thought at that time it was due to the cd… Read complete

2010 Accord LX problem

Honda Accord 2010 LX Sedan 2.4L 5M
The past two times i have brought the car in for an oil change i have been told that the oil level is below the dipstick. Both times i have brought the car in for an oil change with 20% oil life showing. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes gets "blocked". That is the only way i can describe it, you go to shift and cant get into gear, either have to go back to 2nd or back to neutral and then back in. The "double pump shift" usually works. I have also had a problem with the speaker deck rattling which i had supposedly fixed under warranty but only to have the same problem.

Problem Accord EX-L V-6 6cyl

Honda Accord 2011 EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5L 5A
Hi, i purchased a honda accord (exl, v6) of 2011 model. I and other family members experience headache whenever we use the car, mainly for long drive (say, more than 2 hours). I think its due to its new electronic noise cancellation system (that honda installed in its accord models around 2010) and high internal cabin noise, particularly at higher speed. Honda reconfigured the noise cancellation system in its 2013 accord models. I reported the issue to honda technical service and two honda dealers. None find/acknowledge any issue with the car or with its noise cancellation/sound system. I wan… Read complete

2013 Accord EX-L problems

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L Sedan 2.4L CVT
The sporadic failure of the radio to operate, come on is some instances, or to display presets and the cd player not operating all at the same time is extremely frustrating! the driver seat memory system not reverting when re-entering vehicle and starting, all point to a possible electrical problem that honda would do good to look into -- there are youtube videos of other owners who have experienced radio malfunctions as well. The previous model accord i owned, 2011, had no such problem. With regards to another owner complaint on the engine's momentary hesitations upon acceleration, was also… Read complete

Fix 2009 Honda Accord

Honda Accord 2009
I purchased a 2009 honda accord v6 on february. When i apply the brakes my car makes a loud squeaking noise. The noise is getting worse. I've been to the dealership over 4 times and have called in regards to them fixing the problem. They told me that it was the brake pads. They are still in the process of investigating the problem. Why is this taking so long? the honda consumer affairs department said that if i fix the brake i would have to pay out of pocket. Honda will not fix this problem unless its recalled. My left speaker as well has shorted out. I went to the car audio store and had the speaker replaced with a new honda speaker and once again it shorted at a high volume. The gentleman at the car audio store informed me that this was a manufacturing problem on the car. *tr
