If your check engine light is blinking its a catalyst damaging fault and could mess up your cats if you keep driving it.

On my 2005 F150 that I just had the transmission rebuilt on. They found a stuck valve on in valve body which causes the drum to break. The drum is poorly designed and they make a better one to replace it with.

Mine does that but after I’ve drove it for a while. It runs fine when It first starts but after a while it will jerk when I let off the gas and if I stop at a red light, when I hit the gas it jerks hard like it’s going to stop! I thought a while back I was having issues with the transmission temperature sensor because of hard cranks after a lon drive and letting it sit! Could it be the same issue? I plan on changing it out and changing the fluid since it has high miles anyway.

Sounds like maybe fuel pump. Pump and strainer are in the gas tank. They are a ceiled unit. Would recommend replacing if you are having trouble. Check for a service hole before removing the entire tank first. Can save a lot of time.

Mine was a easy fix. Replaced IAC ran good then started doing same thing next day. Thinking fuel pump pump relay filters vacume leaks air filters? After thinking the worst realized my battery cables weren't even tight. That's all it was.

On my 2006 Lariat I’m the only owner. At 103,000 miles she wouldn’t want to move, had zero power and made a clicking from engine when I tried to hover her gas…. I replaced all spark plugs and wires, & the Catalytic converters were completely shot, so I replaced both and the mass air flow sensor we replaced but it ran crappy with new one so we put old sensor back in and she runs like brand new!!!

Acceleration loss under load

Ford F-150 2005 F150 5.4 3valve 100000 miles
Has power with overdrive off but hesitates and Boggs down when going up hill with overdrive on and acts sluggish when cruising at low speeds with overdrive on. When you step on the gas halfway to the floor or more it Boggs way down before accelerating. I have replaced all 8 coils all 8 spark plugs fuel filter both evap valves and the fuel pump control module and cleaned the mass airflow sensor and dumped fuel system cleaner in the tank.

I went through this problem for about 9 months. Replaced icm, computer, disputer, coils, plugs , wires, tps, maf, egr , fuel pressure regulator,. Last thing replaced o2 sensor fixed the total thing. If I was to start over I would get the air right, o2 sensors and maf. Then check fuel pressure, and go from there. Go to a mechanic that can read the obd1 computer to diaganose it better. Good luck
Diesel Jerry from United States 6 years ago
If you have the 4R70E or W transmission there’s an issue with the design of the drum in the transmission and the valves sticking in the valve body. They make a better designed drum to fix the problem.

Had same problem on 2001 f150 5.4. Take a look forcooked wired behind right side engine head just above o2 sensor. Check trans wire harness passes over the trans real close to exhaust check for trans oil in plug on trans. Pull codes from truck check for p1747 or similar short to ground. Wires might be cooked close to back of engine head or oil in plug o ring failure easy fix if harness might have to unplug trans wires and for slack good luck PS check engine bay fuse23 if blown

My pick up does not accelerate

Ford F-150 1998  140000 miles
It started with jerks while driving; when starting gold y vibrates and then it normalizes. While driving it losed power as if choking a little, but now it got worse. It chokes while accelerating and sounds as if exploding, when I let go it keeps driving; if I accelerate again it does the same but it doesn't stall. If I turn it off for 5 seconds it works for 10 minutes and then it fails again. I alreadi cleaned the injectors, changed spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, coils and their sensors. I've already had this problem for a year and they can't solve it, yesterday I scanned it and had air sensor error, but changing it didn't fix it.

Truck failure

Ford F-150 2008  128 miles
It was working fine and the next day I used it I felt the truck heavy, it didn't have the normal acceleration, and then I realized it didn't have the power to go uphill, it went sluggishly and when the revolutions go up it started shuddering. With the scanner it showed errors P0755, P1747 and P0743, I was told it might be the gas pump, but the failure continues. It's a 2008 mexican Ford truck, 8 cilinders and 4.6L engine with automatic transmission.

The error code P1747 ir related to the transmission: pressure in the control solenoid, and most likely the other error codes are related. Check the solenoids.

How many miles since last transmission fluid exchange? Shuttering sound like torque converter shutter. Try BG Products transmission conditioner, it will neutralize the fluid. If the shutter goes away then exchange the fluid and use another BG conditioner again.

Failure while accelerating suddenly or while overtaking at more that 55 miles

Ford F-150 2003  100000 miles
When I drive at more than 55 mph it starts jerking and if I accelerate or step on the gas to overtake somebody it fails... Sometimes it takes a while to start doing this, but obviously it's not reliable if it happens every once in a while.

It might be a problem in one of the coils, that might happen for a loss of electric power in one of the pistons. You might need to use a scanner to tell you which one is the failure
